The Wickerman Festival <TheWickermanF>


The aptly named Solway Coast will experience its seventh frolicky Wickerman happening on the 25th and 26th July 2008.

From cheeky publicity seeking upstart to hardy festival perennial, the Wickerman has established its roots for continued organic growth. Wickerman '08 will once again see a parade of fops, spivs, dandies, babes, dudes, swells, cats and kids dressed in their jauntiest threads, melding together to create a festival vibe which is second to none.

Wickerman debutantes who have taken the decision to sashay down the festival road less travelled can expect sporadic mirth and frivolity alongside sustained barrages of contentment.

Mohican World Record
In another festival first The Wickerman will attempt to gather the most number of mohicans in the one place at the one time.

Old school punks, Beckham fans, Mr T copycats and those who indulge in their festival mohawk haircuts should congregate in front of The Wickerman at 12 noon on Saturday the 26th July.

Prizes will be awarded by Jim Gellatly of XFM Scotland who himself sports a dapper crest.

Categories will include most jaunty, most debonair, most majestic and of course a special prize for kids.

Negotiations are currently underway with the Guiness Book of Records to attend the event. Please note no "American style" fake gelled mohawks will be tolerated. Please spread the word amongst other "Mowie" wearers to attempt the nonsensical world record.

Jim Gellatly said "I'm delighted to be involved. Wickerman was my Festival highlight last year, precisely for off the wall ideas like this!"

The Solus Tent...full line-up confirmed...
As Wickerman and the glorious Scottish summer draw ever closer Chay "new music guru and promoter of the highly publicised Solus tent" has announced his full line-up.

From those media darlings "Attic Lights" through to the serial killer inspired "DeSalvo", the Solus tent offers a pan scotia view of all things good from Northern climes.

KT and Mark E to perform at the Wickerman (25.04.08)
More acts announced for Scotland’s Southernmost festival “The Wickerman.”

Saint Andrews singer/songwriter KT Tunstall and Manchester legends The Fall will join an eclectic billing to almost complete the Wickerman main-stage line-up.
Headlining on Saturday night prior to the torching of a giant Wickerman, multi-award winning performer KT Tunstall will entertain the masses with her unique pop, rock and acoustic set. Wickerman organiser Jamie Gilroy felt that “These latest acts added more variety to an already diverse line-up.”

Appearing on the Friday night Mark E Smith’s The Fall are widely regarded as one of the most enigmatic, idiosyncratic and chaotic bands of their time. Also recognised as John Peel’s favourite act they have influenced a whole host of contemporary artists including Franz Ferdinand and LCD Soundsystem. In addition to the eclectic musical offerings the organisers promise a weekend of “fiery frolics” in a spectacular setting.

Weekend tickets including camping and parking are £75, Saturday day tickets are £50.

Armed with an M16 and M203 grenade launcher, the grenadier can deliver explosive fire at point and area targets from medium to long distances. Just had a look at the Solus lineup on the wickerman site. It's definitely looking good this year. It'll be good to see the Kazoo fellas again too.
Throws up the interesting dilemma of how Andy's going to do the sound and play with de rosa at the same time. I mean, he's good, but.........
