- the beginning of the twist ....
- Me, Myself, and I
- The Futureheads formed in the early 2000's, in Sunderland. More specifically, in Barry's garage with the line-up of Jaff (Bass, Vocals), Barry Hyde (Guitar, Vocals), Ross Millard (Guitar, Vocals), and Dave Hyde (Drums, Vocals)
Third album ‘This Is Not The World’ was recorded in 3 weeks in the summer with super-producer Youth at his studio ‘Space Mountain’ in the Sierra Nevada mountain range in Andalusia. About as far away atmospherically as you can get from the bleak Scarborough farm in which they recorded ‘News And Tributes’, the band couldn’t help but be influenced by Youth’s enthusiasm, and describe the album as one of ‘defiance, optimism and joy.’

Split Festival, Sunderland
SPLIT FESTIVAL, SUNDERLAND
Hi everyone! The Futureheads have an AMAZING gig coming up. We're playing in Sunderland on Sunday October 4th. It's gonna be brilliant, we're headlining a Sunderland music festival, so also on the bill are the incredible Field Music and Frankie and the Heartstrings. Plus other local acts Beak and Sea of Glass. It's gonna be a great day with other events on too. You can buy tickets here or from Hot Rats Records in Sunderland, RPM in Newcastle, or indeed from Ashbrooke Cricket Club itself.
The gates will open around about 1pm and we’ll be going on early evening around about 8-9. It’s an outdoor gig, in a marquee incase it rains. There’s gonna be food stalls, drink, great bands, jugglers, fire breathers, fireworks. All sorts of crazy stuff going on. Should be a great day and an important gig for Sunderland – we’re looking to making at a yearly thing if the festival is a success.
So yeah, get on your dancing shoes and get down! We’ll playing some of our very newest songs that we’ve just recorded and will be on our next album come the Spring – so this is the only chance you’ll get to hear them live before then. I’ll be in touch again as more acts are announced and times are properly sorted. We’ll be keeping this website updated for latest news.
See you in the pit!!
