The Idjut Boys
After a fabulous New Year, Melting Pot bursts into 2009 with some more MP debutants – this time in the shape of THE IDJUT BOYS. First timers at MP they may be, but Conrad and Dan, for they are the Idjuts, have been plying their trade of producing and playing their dubified disco goodness since the late ‘80s. Contemporaries of DJ Harvey on the London scene, they took their wide and varied musical tastes from their club nights and mashed together disco, dub, funk, house, electro into some pretty special and prodigious production work under many aliases and labels, including their own U-Star and Noid. Never ones to take themselves too seriously the tracks titles are always guaranteed to raise a smile - “Girth Soup” and “Lasagne for 10” anyone?
The Idjuts have always been renowned for their ability to rock any party. They have put these skills to the fore with a number of superb mix albums for the likes of Nuphonic and Tirk and with some storming festival performances last summer the boys are still at the top of their game - it was high time they got let loose at Melting Pot!
