Te Herenga Moana which means the joining of the seas is a newly formed group for kids (13 and under) and also adults (14+) doing Kapa Haka/Maori Performing Arts in Sydney Australia.
We are based around the Western Suburbs of Sydney and our group is all about awhi and whakawhanaungatanga. Anybody and everybody is welcome to come along to practices no matter if you have just picked up a poi/koikoi for the first time or if you can do both with your eyes closed everybody is welcome.
If you are wanting to meet new people in the maori community then you are welcome 2 come along.
We normally have our practices once a fortnight so please keep an eye on the blog to see our dates and times.

Next practice will be on this Sunday 12th Sept, Doonside Scout Hall 21 Doonside rd Doonside kids 1pm-3pm please bring something for shared kai from 3pm-4pm & gold coin per person and adults 4pm - 6pm and also something for shared kai and gold coin.
The hall is right next to the Golan Park/ Kings Park Reserve. I can not post maps to this page so click on this link and then type in 21 doonside rd doonside and it will show you a map of the area but it very easy to get to.
http://maps.google.com.au/maps?hl=en...
For those who will be using public transport it is only about a 300metre walk from the station if that. Just make sure when you get off the train you walk on the side that DOES NOT HAVE THE SHOPS which essentially will be Doonside rd. From there on its only about 5mins away from the station.
Oh and dont forget your pen and paper, if you wish a tape recorder or video camera, your pois and your smiles
