The Ladies from Hell -The Royal Regt of Scotland
THE LADIES FROM HELL"
(Words and Music by Terry Moore)
Sergeant they’ve got me I’ve fallen
As the gunfire sprayed over the clay
Tell my Mother and Father I love them
Your war is over Young Private MacRae
As the dawn breaks we bury our comrades
As the winter’s snow covers the lair
Tho’ the TOS and the Tartan may wither
The badge will bear witness you’re there
We salute you goodbye one last time
Rest in peace we must head for the line
With our rifles in hand we explore no-mans-land
Till the winter and darkness close in
In the still of the night, we move in for the fight
And freedom for our kith and kin
The Captain says this is the big one
We attack just before dawn
Defeat and destroy is our mission
And remember our lads who have gone
As the night slowly turns into day
The whistle blows then the pipes start to play
We’re the Ladies from Hell,& the Royal Scots as well
With the boys from the border so fine
The Gordon’s Bydand, the Queens Own Seaforth man
Fusiliers and the Argyll’s thin red line
The Battalions who stand side-by-side
Then victory cannot be denied
Sergeant when this war is over
And our Colours fly pinned in the ground
Will the pages of history tell us
Of the men who win never be found
But their names will forever live on and on and on
We’re the Ladies from Hell,& the Royal Scots as well
With the boys from the borders so fine
The Gordon’s Bydand, the Queens Own Seaforth man (x2)
Fusiliers and the Argyll’s thin red line
For the boys left behind on the line
The Piper will play one more time

The endings of ends
Lo, there do I see my Father..
Lo, there do I see my Mother
And my Sisters and my Brothers..
Lo, there do I see the line
Of my people back to the beginning..
Thay do bid me to take my place among them..

Infantry....the best
love being an infantryman. I can see that being a tankie would be pretty cool and that being a sapper or a craftsman or a signaller would be challenging and more intellectually stimulating. Christ knows why anyone would be a gunner, but each to their own.
The feeling of:
kneeling on top of a Tor in the dark at 3am, temperature at -3c, knowing that no one has seen your approach.
clipping your skis on before skiing off into the Norweigen arctic, rifle across your chest.
the final O group before loading at the loading bay and heading into Basrah to kick some c#nt's door in
the spray of the jungle river as you plane up a river in Belize.
the rush of blood when the chain gun gets going
the feeling of team work when you're in shieldwall in public order
I have done it all..in the Infantry. Some corps men might have done some of it but not in 5 years' service.
The price you pay is:
hours in the cold and rain or the heat and the dust
very few transferrable skills
hours of waiting and preparing and notice to move
being treated like an inanimate object.
What do you want? Why join the Army? If you genuinely want to be the best and you want to be one of the rough men in the dark who keep the rest of society safe - the Infantry is the place to be.0 comentarios 583 días

Dont panic i am not going to ask you about hall size, tents or any weddingy crap!
I have been summoned to cordially invite you and your lovely wife out for dinner and drinkys, aether the Thu 18th or Fri 19th of June? The Master will be home before then and be able to give you exact dates (you know how it is).
Cheers Tracy
Jim,
I've got good and bad news.
Bad news is that I can't make the next weekend because I have an exam on Monday (Shitter cause I can see it's a good one).
Good news is that it is my final exam; so I'll be back training full time!
Regards,
Griffin
Alright Jim,
Hope all's well with you and yir Argylls. Tell ya what I'm after fella - I was wondering if you know how I could get hold of the Alamein Coy photo that was taken at the arse end of the tour. I never got wan, if you could point me in the right direction that would be great. Any other good crack feel free to pass it on to me.
Cheers Ma Loon
Sinky
When is the next tour?
Was after a big Green Army marquee, got to stick with the theme
Hay Jim.
Hows it going? Hope you, Catherine and the fluffys are well and good.
Have the guys that are going out to Afghan to cover the R'n'R block started training yet?
Got a few more Q's for you about the hall, Do you know the hall dimensions?
Have you got a military marquee (if yes how big?)
How many partitions do you have down there?
Soz, i know I'm a bloody pain in the backside!
Tracy
Hiya. How ya didelly doin Jim?
Quick Q. for you, do the mess dress shirts have cuffs that can take cuff links??
Dont know if Mac told you we've book the hall next year for our sine dig, 1st of May. The frantic fun starts here for me! ;-{
Also dont know if Mac pasted on Ciarans address, He's doin not to bad. They've managed to collect a dog ( Dusted, no prises for why he got called that!) and a cat (Fox piss, apparently all ginger thing smell like that according to one of the lads, Not happy!). He's always tired, they've got to carry a platoons worth of kit between 11 or less! And he's been a bit naughty, he's started smoking again! ;-( Not good! I read Joe,s comment about the Hackle, that was one of the first things Ciaran said to me- No red hackle and No black watch C#*ts caring the coffin! :-}
Hope thing are good in the world of Jim.
