Formed in 1967. The Club hosts social gatherings for those of Irish birth or descent and for those that have an interest in the Irish culture. Club activities include - the annual regional Rose of Tralee contest in April, where the winner then goes to the National final in June. The NZ winner travels to Tralee in County Kerry, Ireland for the International contest in August each year. Traditional Irish dancing, classes held each Tuesday of the school term in Hawera. Musicians, singing, music, street parades, social nights, cards and the races. Football and Hurling are new to the club with our first game being played on February 14th, 2009 in Hawera. Trace your Irish ancestry. Artists, Celtic art, Hall decoration or float making. The annual NZ feis is held on Labour weekend each year, this is competitions for all things Irish - Speech, Singing, Dancing, Gaelic sports plus other sports - golf, bowls, darts etc. Come join us

    If you are interested in learning Irish Traditional dancing contact Louise Ph 06 274 8494 or email p.lm.buhler@xtra.co.nz. Lessons are after school on Tuesdays during the school term in Hawera for 6years and over.

  • 2010 Taranaki Rose of Tralee

    Entrants are sought for the Taranaki Rose of Tralee contest. The Taranaki final will be held on the 10th April, 2010. If you would like to enter you need to be aged between 18 and 28 years of age and be of Irish descent. The winning Rose then represents Taranaki to compete at the NZ final held in June, 2010 in Invercargill, and would need to be available for the various Club functions throughout the year.     If you would like to be a financial member of the club, you can contact me by email, p.lm.buhler@xtra.co.nz. Family sub is $20 and single sub is $10. You will be put on the mailing/contact list, updated by newsletters and be able to attend functions for members. Your support is very much appreciated and helps to ensure the ongoing future of the Club.

    Wed 30th Sept, 2009 The Irish Dancing girls gave a demonstration at the Performing Arts Concert Memorial Theatre, Hawera.

    Sat 3rd Oct, 2009, Shenanigans (Irish Band) from Wellington played at Barrie's Restaurant and Sports Bar, Hawera. We are raising funds for the Gaelic Football team, there was Irish dancing great music,

    Sun 4th Oct, 2009 1pm. First practise for Gaelic Football, Hawera Soccer Grounds Turuturu Road. We need players for the mens and ladies teams. contact Dave 027 778 3559.
