- The most northernly film & music festival on Mainland Britain.
- Me, Myself, and I
- The Big Gig was first proposed in 2004 by Cinema For Thurso Group to the board of directors of Caithness Arts as a live music event to promote local bands. Since then it has developed by CFT to include recorded works as well as live performance. With a strong preference for 'original' work in all creative areas this group is here to support both individuals or groups. If you create in audio-visual mediums (online, cgi, animation, photography, music, film, video) we want to help bring your work to the public arena. The Big Gig event is here to bring your work to the public.

"ODEON, EDINBURGH- END OF AN ERA"
In 2003 the Odeon Cinema in Clerk Street, Edinburgh was closed down as Odeon moved to the revamped sight of the former ABC in Lothian Road. Film maker, Barrie Andrew captured this fasinating look behind the seens of the five screen cinema in the city centre. The cinema is a listed building and has had sketchy use since and now lies empty. Currently there is a major campaign to save and restore the old Odeon, formerly the New Victoria Cinema. Not just for movies, this 1930 cinema has played host to many famous bands including the Beatles. Barrie's film is a thurough tour of all the parts of the cinema that the public never see in this excellent featurette.
"TOGETHER- AN AFRICAN SUCCESS"
Ned Cordery continues his support of "The Big Gig" with a featurette documentary covering the work of the Kamuli Uganda Sustainable Livelihoods Project. Ned's films have won him many honours and he has great skill and experience as a movie maker. The film takes a close look at all aspects of the project and talks to the co-ordinators at Iowa State University, the support volenteers in the field and the people of Kamuli.
Programme 2:
"DRIFTWOOD" (18+) Doors 9.00pm Feat, 9.15pm end 10.30pm
"CRIMSON" (18+)
German student, 17 year old Lana Tannir's entry is a story about a girl who is haunted by the memories of the terrible crime she commited. The viewer is encouraged to answer the questions as to why the girl did such a thing. Was it jealousy, what was the impitus for her actions? The film stresses the themes relationships, delusions and appearance versus reality in this short but bloody melodrama.
"DRIFTWOOD"
The main feature in this programmes is a full length film from Pete Middleton. On a secluded country road just outside the desolate town of Drift a group of backpackers find an abandoned vehicle. The group are unsure what to do or what has happened to the cars' owner but when one of their group is brutaly beaten in front of them a disturbing and desparate bid to escape the lunatic killer begins.
