2008 Battle Of The Bands
Hi everyone, well what a big weekend that was!
On Friday night Splinter Effekt returned to the stage with an all new presence and determination, with three new members (who were unreal for having never played on stage before) we competed in the Charters Towers Battle Of The Bands competition, we played three songs: "Tomorrow" - Silverchair, "The Hunger" - Splinter Effekt and crowd favorite "Joker And The Thief" - Wolfmother.
The judges saw our effort worthy enough to win the competition, with The Blind Crusade taking runners-up. So the very next day we were in Townsville watching the local Townsville heats, which went to Shiftlock (who very much deserved it) and Dog Water (runners-up......)
Sunday night was such an incredible experience and the whole band learned so much, although we didn't come away the overall winners we had a lot of fun and the crowd loved every minute of it and let us know (which is all that counts in our eyes).
The winners were Shiftlock, who we would like to congratulate on a well deserved victory and Dog Water who took runners-up.
We would also like to congratulate The Blind Crusade who did extremely well and took out the "Incentive Award" keep at it boys, you rocked hard.
Thanks to everyone who came along and supported us, also thank you to Jacqui Maslem for all her hard work!
We hope to see you all at a gig soon!

Dudes; later in year you can have under my house to practice. Not a huge area, but enough to set you all up. Nights, not good, weekends all good. Neighbours cool. Have my bro with me at moment, he has serious probs with band noise, much to JT's horror, but will let you know later on when you can have the space. Rock on lads!
(L) not bad.
Well done, I was there the night you played the Enterprise Idol with Damien. You've certainly come a long way since then. Good song choice at the Towers Battle heat. Sorry I couldn't get the sound as good as it should have been but it didn't take much if anything from your performance. Keep it together fellows. Jeza
