He comes to Australia because his wife has died so at first he is somewhat melancholy but eventually, he is renewed by the struggle. Annie will end up liking the fact that he is so earnest and naïve.

I see her as having a touch of the Irish. Auburn hair, she is engaging and attractive She is an experienced campaigner, very driven; a leader, passionate, organized, has goals that she tries to meet. She is also cynical about the political process and savvy about what happens in these conflicts

TIGER, TIGER !
A tale of love, revenge, greed, extinction and people in Koala suits.
“What can one person possibly do!?”

It is the Australia's greatest environmental battle, the Franklin River, Tasmania in February 1983. Environmentalist banners are strewn across the riverbank. Two recent lovers, both stubborn and determined environmentalists, Annie and Vincent, assume leadership of a small group locked in battle with police at Rock Island Bend. A police boat heads up the river at top speed to Butler Island. A row of duckies positioned to stop the boat, contain Vince and Annie on board. An interested Karen looks on. Despite warnings, the greens stand firm. The boat picks up speed and doesn't stop as they smash into the pontoons. The water churns as people, coughing and spluttering, swim toward the bank. Annie is conspicuously missing as Vincent surfaces. He looks around in panic to see Annie surface, gasping for breath. Vincent pulls Annie up from a desperate situation and as they get to the bank, the police swoop.
Vince is arrested. He cannot even say good bye.
Annie lies on the bank. He yells as he is taken away by police.

It is the Year 2000, the turn of the century and we meet Joe. Having moved to Australia from New York where he was a helicopter pilot flying around the east and Hudson rivers, Joe lacks joie d vivre. He has terrible memories of New York and he comes to Australia for a clean break. He takes up a position as an office manager in the same company. On his first day in Sydney, he is bewildered by timetables and as a consequence races towards the ferry as it is about to leave. He jumps and just makes it in time to the applause of the travellers. He finds he is working for the same company, Extrusion industries Pty Ltd as Vincent Polson, the same Vincent as we have seen earlier but older and now a complete corporate bastard. Extraction Industries have mining and forestry operations.

On his first day, he finds he is confronted by Frank, a bushy from Tasmania. Frank tells him of the existence of the Tasmanian Tiger - he brings proof, tiger excrement. The forest is being blockaded by a Green group for the last five weeks. He warns that continued operations by the company will surely make the tiger extinct. A disbelieving Joe, who knows the tiger is already extinct by using the new fangled google thingo, gives his word that he will get it looked at.

In the meantime, Vincent meets with a representative of the Japanese parent company, Mr. Yamahira who warns that the delivery of woodchips have almost ceased due to the blockade and that the contract will be cancelled if the company doesn't pick up the pace.

Joe queries Vincent and presents him with the tiger sample asking for some verification . Vincent belittles the theory and tells Joe of the Japanese problem. Joe is asked to spy at a bush dance, a fundraiser for the Greens campaign in Tyrian’s Creek, Joe agrees partly because he has no choice and partly because he is intrigued to find out more. He attends dressed inappropriately (Cowboy hat, boots- a nose ring would have been more appropriate). He is picking up and looking at leaflets on a stall and then wanders in when the cry goes up for one extra person to make up the numbers and he is lined up against Annie, who is now fighting the Tyrian’s Creek cause. He is entranced by Annie and when she gets up to make a speech he is smitten partly by her audacity and partly because it reminds him of another woman who was part of his life. Annie launches an attack on Extrusion industries with a call to arms for more volunteers to join the cause.

At the same time at the company, Vincent disposes of the evidence down the toilet.

Walking through the city streets on his way home, Joe looks at the moon and wipes a tear from his eye. Realizing he is about to miss his last ferry, he starts racing towards the Quay. He once again needs to launch himself to make it in time. The next day, V
