Sha Youth says:
"Our BEBO page is a place for young people to meet with others living with HD. PLEASE DO NOT ABUSE IT OR PEOPLE ON IT :-) " (33 weeks ago) me too!

How To Contact Us
If you are growing up in a family with HD in Scotland follow the link to to our website where you will find information for children and teenagers about HD. Please go to: www.hdscotland.org/youth. If you would like any more info about HD, or the Youth Service, you will also find the contact details for our two Youth Advisors Karen Keenan (North/East Scotland) and Kirsten Walker (South/West Scotland) who will be happy to hear from you.
NEW GROUP
The SHA have launched a new service group for young adults aged 18-25. The group will look at service gaps for the age group and help design services to better support young adults in all avenues in their future planning. The group has met twice already and we are planning to meet up again on Saturday May 10th in Glasgow (Waxy O'Connors, 1pm near Queen Street Station). Even if you don't fancy coming along but want to know more info about issues facing young adults then pleace check out our new website when it goes live in a few weeks as there will be a section especially for you.
Junior Camp
The Junior Camp for 8-12s will be at Dalguise in Perthshire on the 11th - 13th of July 2008. There will be a range of exciting and challenging land and water based activities such as canoeing, climbing, abseiling, ropes courses and so on. Please see www.pgl.co.uk/PGLWeb/Families/centre... for more information about Dalguise.
Senior Camp
The Senior Camp for 13-17s will be held at The Fairburn Centre near Inverness on the 25th - 27th of July. Again, there will be a range of land and water based activities, and the chance to do paint balling too! Please see www.fairburncentre.com for more information about activities and accommodation (especially the jacuzzi baths!).
News
As you all know by now Catherine has left her role as Youth Advisor with the SHA but she will still be involved with the service as a volunteer when she returns from her trip to New Zealand (thanks Cat!). We are really pleased that a new Youth Advisor has been appointed to cover the South/West of Scotland. Her name is Kirsten Walker and she started on Monday (April 28th)! Kirsten is going to spend a few weeks learning about the project and then I'm sure she will be in touch with everyone in the South/West. A huge welcome to Kirsten from everyone at the SHA!!

Easter Outings 2008
Hi Everyone,
It's been a few weeks since the Easter hols but I hope everyone who came along to one of the three trips we organised had a good time. On Easter Friday we took the juniors back to Dalguise and spent a brilliant afternoon Quad Biking and on the Giant Swing. We have a lot of new juniors this year (our youngest is 7!) so it was great to be able to show them where we have our junior camp in the summer. Thanks to everyone for making it such a great day, even tho the weather was a bit crazy!

On Easter Monday we took the seniors Climbing at Ratho in Edinburgh. If you're into climbing then this is where to practise in Scotland, the place is huge and they've also got a fab ariel assault course, not for those like me who have a fear of heights!! We also took the Grampian group climbing to Transition Extreme in Aberdeen. Another huge climbing wall which some of you climbed to the top of, wow! Thanks for coming along it was great to see you all again.

As always if you've any ideas about what/where you'd like to go next then please let us know and we'll try to organise something (I know something to do with football has been asked about for ages, and a lot of the seniors loved white water rafting, so we'll look into them and try our best!).

Bye for now,
Karen :)

18 -25 Group
We have a new group!!!

Catherine and Laura met up with some of the young adults for lunch on Sat 12th Jan in Waxy O'connors in Glasgow. Lunch was had and plans were made - the group are looking for more young adults aged 18-25 years who's lives are affected by HD to join them for lunch, chat, fundraising and general peer based support.

The group also met up on Sat 15th March in Waxy O'connors, Glasgow which was very busy due to the St Patricks day celebrations as well as the last games of the six nations Rugby.

We hope as many of you as possible will be able to join us for our next meeting in May.....

Hi everyone,
Just a wee message to say that's me nearly 35 weeks pregnant and that I've started my maternity leave. I'll post a few photos of the baby when he/she arrives. Have a good summer and I'll be thinking of you all at camp! Bye for now,
Karen xx

p.s. if you don't have Flash it won't show all the icons properly (e.g. there should be four buttons showing at the top lefthand side going down in a line with one for children, then teenagers, then young adults and then professionals). but let me know about this too as it's important you can all 'see' the site properly! ta

Hi everyone,
I'm writing to ask a favour from those of you who use the Youth Service. We've asked a company to redesign the young people's website and we'd really like your views on what they've come up with. Here is a link to the first page (the rest of the site will look like it too): http://www.internetdesignaberdeen.co...
If you could email me at: youthinfo@hdscotland.org
, or post a comment with your feedback about the colours, pictures used etc that'd be brill. Thanks heaps.

Hi Everyone

Just a wee note to tell you how great it has been to work with you all over the last year and a bit.

As some of you know I'm off to New Zealand in 12 days time (honestly not counting !) and I'm leave my post at SHA :-(

Now before you all cheer and party too much I will be back to help out at summer camp and some of the outings (hopefully if karen and John will let me???)

Anyway hope you all keep in touch.

Thanks again for some amazing experiences with a fantastic group of strong, brave, funny, delightful and brilliant people anyone could hope to work with.

Hey, cool page u got here :)

You should have made it as a "group" rather than just a profile, maybe its something u could do in due course?
You will get more people looking at it that way, I'm sure.

I'm glad I came across it, something to keep track of for my little sister, shes 9 in about 5 weeks.

Take Care everyone xx
