Researchers have found that many of the sexual problems for older males can be "attributed to illnesses related to aging". In an extensive survey that involved more than 800 elderly men and women, Bernard Starr and Marcela Weiner found strong evidence "that not only are older people indeed interested in making love, they also think about it, desire it, and engage in it when they can". In regard to older men, specifically, although many researchers have found "progressive declines in intimate love interest, activity, and performance with age," others have found that the majority of men (as many as 80-90 percent) continue to retain sexual interest and engage in sexual activity in one form or another "well into the 70s or beyond".
