History
RePublik is the brain child of some of Waterfords most well known DJs & producers. With Warren Sauvage and Gavin & Mac playing at some of the major dance events Waterford has seen over the years. In 2005, Warren & Tony ran Inspire Musik record store and started running their own events, at which Kenno was resident DJ. In the summer of '05 they decided to start up a new club where the DJs had more say in how they ran things. They got together with Gavin & Mac who were Resistance residents and also with Ray C (Beat 102-103) and they decided to give it a go and hey presto REPUBLIK was born!
With lots of blood sweat and tears 2 years later with a string of major parties under our belt from DJs - Mark Farina, Miguel Migs, Yousef, Kerri Chandler, Halo, Joey Youngman, Charles Webster, Phil Weeks, Jason Hodges, Rob Mello & Jazzy Jeff, RePublik is now one of the most respected house events in the country, and now in 2009, we promise to keep on keepin' on!
Web Broadcast
The RePublikan Broadcast is our weekly Internet Radio Show every Thursday Night @ 10pm you can join our resident DJs playing the best in Quality Underground House : listen live - http://radio.myhouse-yourhouse.net/

Check out some of the other great shows from people like DeMarkus Lewis, Blue Iguana Music and BBQ Records, and many more....
Whats the future for RePublik
Well if the previous thre years is anything to go by, we hope to the next two will be just as successful. After our little summer vaction we start back in the Loft this October & already have lined up guests for the final months of 2008!!

  • Re:Publik present FISH GO DEEP's Shane Johnson & Omar (Miami)

On Saturday December 19th, the Extended Loft, Electric Avenue will see the Annual Go Deep/RePublik Xmas Party when SHANE JOHNSON returns for his first solo gig in Waterford in many years. Joining Shane will be Miami's OMAR SUARDY (Aquabooty, Deep House Movement) who is stopping over in Waterford before his performance in Berlin the following week. Also residents Kenno & Paul Mac will be on hand to get the night started. Doors open at 10pm & admission is 12 Euro. Entrance beside Bruce Betting, John Street, Waterford.

    Shane Johnson Biog:
Shane Johnson has been playing records in public since the late 1980s. His residency at Ireland’s longest running and best known house club, Sweat at Sir Henry’s in Cork, spanned more than a decade and influenced a generation of Irish clubbers and DJs, picking up numerous awards and accolades along the way.
Since finishing Sweat in 2001, Fish Go Deep’s (along with Greg Dowling) travels have taken them to clubs all over the world. During that time they have also hosted many of the world’s top house deejays at their hometown Go Deep residency.
They have presented the Go Deep radio show on Cork’s Red FM since 2004 and also broadcast weekly on Istanbul's Power FM and monthly on Ireland’s national music station, 2fm.
Greg and Shane have been producing music under the Fish Go Deep name since 2000, earning widespread praise from deejays, dancers and journalists around the globe. The duo’s earliest work appeared on New Jersey’s seminal i! Records and more than thirty releases have followed on labels such as Brique Rouge, Gourmet, Chez Music, Defected, NRK, Innervisions and Strictly Rhythm.
Fish Go Deep tracks have been included on dozens of compilations, on labels in the US, Canada, UK and many more. In 2005 Greg and Shane launched two of their own imprints - Ork Recordings, with fellow Corkman, Mark O'Sullivan, and Go Deep. To date, releases on both labels have found favour with such heavyweight DJs as Louie Vega, Timmy Regisford, Laurent Garnier, Charles Webster, Dixon, Jimpster and Ame and have been licensed to many different territories.
The Cure and the Cause, a collaboration with singer/songwriter, Tracey K, was a huge underground hit throughout 2006 and, after a re-release by house giant, Defected, spent the final weeks of that year in the UK Top Forty Chart. A US release followed on Strictly Rhythm in 2007. The follow-up single with Tracey K, Battery Man, spent several weeks near the top of the Traxsource charts during Autumn 2008 and many further releases are due during 2010.

    Omar Suardy Biog:
Originally from NYC, Omar has roots in Early NY house with influences ranging from Larry heard to LNR to the broad range of sounds happening at the body & soul party in the mid 90s. Upon arriving in Miami in the late 90s and not finding an outlet for the sound he thought moved a dancefloor, he joined forces with Stephen Flynn and Edwin Adams to start the first deep house party on Miami Beach, they adopted the name DHM (Deep House Movement) in an effort to push forward a deeper sound.
After throwing a series of successful warehouse parties, they became the residents of the now infamous Aquabooty party. Hosting every significant deep house dj throughout the years, both at the weekly party and during WMC parties. Omar’s focus has always been in unique music that embraces the listener/dancer. Together with a keen sense of programming his sound consistently elevates the dancefloor. These days his sound is a little darker and a little deeper, ranging from minimal techno, tech house, nu disco, and everything in between. His philosophy is to continuously evolve and present dance floors with fresh music every week.
On the production side, Omar released a couple of EPs "Deeper Rythms" on sustainable recordings and Nod Ep on black Jazz consortium. Omar has a strong connection with the Irish dance culture through the hundreds of Irish he has made move and groove in Miami at W

  • This Saturday JIMPSTER & SHUR-I-KAN @ the Extended Loft

FreeRange Records Party @ the Extended Loft (Sept 26th)

On Saturday September 26th, RePublik are delighted to welcome back Jamie Odell aka JIMPSTER after his storming Waterford debut at the Loft last summer. And to add to the bill we have another debut for an international DJ, SHUR-I-KAN , also from Freerange Records. Support on the night comes from RePubliks Kenno & Warren Sauvage. Doors open at 10pm & this event takes place in the "EXTENDED" Loft, Electric Avenue, Waterford.

    Jimpster Biog:
Jamie Odell aka Jimpster and Audiomontage has been producing, remixing and Djing for the last 15 years and co-running his Freerange Records label for the last 10 of those. His musical upbringing and open-minded attitude to all types of music have meant his productions have found fans across the globe in the electronica/downtempo as well as house music scenes.

His seminal Jimpster LP Messages From The Hub (1997) as well as his more dancefloor orientated Audiomontage 12"s really helped establish Jamie as an artist of some merit and he quickly became in regular demand as a remixer (over 50 at the last count!) and co producer on a wide range of underground projects. His third Jimpster LP Amour was released 2 years ago on Freerange to great critical acclaim and appeared in various published Top 20 LP's of the year (eg. No.17 in IDJ magazine). He has also recently released his first original track for another label, choosing Ben Watt's Buzzin' Fly for Square Up. This became a big underground house track which sat in the top 5 of DJ Mag's Hype Chart for 2 months.

Jamie has also built up his reputation as a highly regarded dj in the UK and around the world. With an emphasis on the deeper end of electronic house music, but never afraid to stray from the path, he retains a freestyle approach that has seen him booked for gigs as diverse as Fabric and Plastic People in London, Cocoon in Frankfurt and 11 in Amsterdam. Other recent gigs have included Shindig in Newcastle, Cielo in NYC, Yellow in Tokyo and Crystal in Istanbul. He also runs the monthly Freerange night as his London residency at AKA.

You can check put more on Jimpster at http://www.myspace.com/jimpster

Video of Jimpster live here www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rbc4WU2ijCE

    Shur-I-Kan Biog:
Shur-i-kan’s trademark blend of musicality with cutting edge electronic production has been turning heads and gaining fans for a number of years now.

An accomplished keyboard player Tom cut his teeth working in various bands in London and to this day is still a long time member of improvisional dance super group The Bays. As a producer however, Shur-I-kan was first discovered by legendary DJ Tom Middleton (Jedi Knights, Global Communication), who released the debut track "Niomi's Dream" on the seminal Jedi's Night Out compilation for Mixmag.

Shur-i-kan has been a long time and key contributor to Jimpsters’ Freerange Records label (voted Best British Label 2007 by DJ Mag readers) - a relationship that started with the jazz influenced "Advance" (2001), and the more dance orientated follow-up album "Waypoints" (2004) and continues with a string of classic house EP’s that include “Living Inside”, “I Want It”, “Special Powers”, “Future Fantasy” and “Letting You Down”.

Representing the deeper side of house, Shur-I-kan’s distinctive acclaimed productions are in heavy demand having remixed the likes of Akabu, Trackheadz, Miguel Migs, Fred Everything and Motorcity Soul amoungst others. Ever difficult to pigeon hole Shur-I-kan has ventured into techier territory with his much lauded Berlin Rising EP on Defected imprint Physical Graffiti and recent releases on Urban Torque and Winding Road Records. He is also known for his numerous collaborations with Glasgow house kingpin Milton Jackson.

Considered amongst the top of the new wave of deep tech house producers/djs, Shur-I-kan fans include the likes of Ben Watt, Funk D’ Void, Laurent Garnier and Spiri

  • Re:Publik present SLAM (Oct 10th)

On Saturday October 10th at the Extended Loft, Electric Avenue, RePublik delighted to welcome back to Waterford Glasgows finest, SLAM return with support from Kenno & Paul Mac. Doors 10pm & admission is 15 euro.

SLAM need no introduction. The legendary UK techno duo of Stuart McMillan and Orde Meikle have travelled far and wide, touring Australia, the USA , Europe, South America and Japan and they hold residencies at 2 of the UK's best clubs (Pressure in their home town of Glasgow and Fabric in the nation’s Capital, London.) 08/ 09 has been one of their busiest periods ever. Performing dynamic sets at many of the world’s leading festivals including Monegros, Oxygen, Bestival, 10 days off, Extrema, Glastonbury and T In The Park, they have also played at some of the world’s best clubs including the legendary Womb In Tokyo, Cocoon in Frankfurt, Rex in Paris and Berlin's infamous Watergate and Berghain to name a few. At the end of 2008 they celebrated 10 years of their own club Pressure, with a Mixmag cover mount CD andsince then they have had a string of hit releases including “Hot Knives”, “Dead Dog Bounce”, ”Positive Education(remixed)” and “City Destroyer”

Their new label Paragraph sees the pair focus on their own productions entirely. The first release “City Destroyer”, with its sinister pitched vocals and crafty, crisp and skippy electronic soundscapes, secured club plays from the likes of Richie Hawtin, Adam Beyer and Laurent Garnier. Paragraph 2, “Hot Knives”, was even bigger staying in the Beatport top 10 for 10 weeks with plays from just about every big name including Carl Craig, Anja Schneider, Dave Clarke and Dubfire. There will be an album with an exciting new concept based around Paragraph later in the year.

This surge in activity has put them in demand as remixers with fellow big names such as Josh Wink, Paul Ritch Pan Pot and Radio Slave calling on their services. On top off all this they still find the time for new projects like Paragraph records. New releases include Paragraph 3, featuring Slam tracks “One Note Samba” and “Room 2” and Slam remixes of Samuel L Session “Can You Relate”, Paul Ritch “The Wolf” and Fabio Gianelli “Apparlas” on Material. They have just released an EP, along with Rejected’s Joris Voorn & Edwin Oosterwal, for Podium boss Len Faki’s Figure label. SLAM have also just remixed Josh Wink ‘ Everybody to the Sun’ for Ovum and they are currently finishing remixes for The Black Dog, Silicone Soul and Steve Lawler.

SLAM are also the proud co-owners of Soma Records, which, in its 18th year, continues to be one of the world’s finest purveyors of cutting edge electronic music, with recent releases and remixes from Silicone Soul, the Black Dog, Mihalis Safras, Mark Broom, Joris Voorn, Prompt, Samuel L Session, Christian Prommer, Radio Slave, Paul Ritch, D'Julz, Adam Beyer, Steve Rachmad, Itamar Sagi and Funk D Void. Slam have curated and played at the massive Slam Tent at Scotland’s T in the Park festival (which they have organised since 1997) and they also recently headlined the G stage at the Glastonbury festival as well as performing live at Awakenings and Extrema in Holland and Space in Ibiza. They also hosted a special Soma Records show case at La Terrrazza in Barcelona during Sonar.
