  • Tash's 25th Birthday Gift Suggestions

    OK, so just to reiterrate...
PLEASE do not feel that you should buy me a gift. If you can't afford to or just can't be bothered, then don't do it!!

However, for those of you who have decided that they would like to get me something, here's some suggestions in no particular order...

Pinboard: so I can pin up postcards I've collected on my travels, photos and other mementos in my bedroom.
Hairdrier with diffuser (larger diffuser = better): Mine's literally falling apart.
Revised Common Lectionary calender or similar: Just cos it would be handy
    Blender: So versatile!
Mini Vaccuum: One of those handheld one (or any vaccuum cleaner really) so that I might actually vaccuum more than twice a year.
Bloch voucher: Very handy now that I am gonna be dancing again
Myer voucher: For all sorts of wants and needs
Bookends: My bookcases are overfull, so thinking it's time to use some other surfaces to store books, but need bookends to keep it all in place.
Nice stationery: I like nice pens and notebooks and stuff, like in Kikki K.
Eco friendly candles: I like candles a lot! I can't usually afford to buy the eco-friendly ones, like soy candles, but I'd like to!
Candle snuffer: To put candles out safely, and avoid setting my bed, or any other furniture alight.

    :)

Just to add something else quickly.
I have recented beaten two phobias!
    1. Giving Blood
    2. Driving

I have had a phobia of needles for IV or blood giving since I was about 12 years old. Over the past few years (excluding my year in London) I have been giving blood fairly regularly (as regularly as possible regularly since returning from the UK) as a way to both help others and beat my fear. On several occasions I have had to convince nurses to insert the needle, they hesitated for fear that I was about to pass out! (although I never have). Last Thursday I gave blood once again, and although a little nervous, walked out of there feeling great, I've beaten that fear! Being more relaxed also was illustrated with the time it took to fill the blood bag - only just over 6 minutes! I remember once about 2 years ago, I gave blood with a friend and I was in the chair for closer to 20mins!

I remember, just about a month ago I drove down the road to the shops for the first time by myself. After parking, I got out of the car shaking and feeling like all the blood had drained from my body. A couple of days ago I was out running, and as I ran down a road that I drove along when I was first learning I thought to myself that I'd like to be going for a drive at that moment. That feeling surprised me, I actually wanted to drive! I've actually started to enjoy it! What a turn around in the last few weeks :)

So, yeah, you could say that I'm feeling quite proud of myself at the moment!

It has been quite a while since I last wrote.
I have been busy with work and study, and any spare time I've had has been used for purposeful leisure, real time off, rather than sitting in front of a computer.

I have just begun my final essay for the Bonhoeffer unit that I chose to study this semester as an intensive. It will be great to get it done and be able to put all of my efforts into the three other subjects that I am attending classes for throughout the semester.

I have enjoyed the last week. and a half, particularly. The Friday before last I had my hair cut and coloured for a photo shoot which was on Sunday - for a hairdressing competition. I had heaps of fun, and my shoot went really well. They want to use me again for the next competition. Only negative point is that I'm not crazy about the hairstyle she gave me - looked great for the comp, but not what I'd choose for the rest of my life. I don't mind the blonde, but the red bits I could do without (to be fair, she offered to change the colour if I didn't mind waiting around for a couple hours after the shoot but I chose to leave it and go) I would also prefer it not so short on top. I just hope that next time she doesn't chop it to an inch all over! I might have to set some boundaries...

After the photo shoot last Sunday evening I was at Renee's house when she got a phone call from Emma asking if we want to head to the beach with her. 10 minutes later we were in our bikinis and on our way. We brought a bottle of wine and some glasses and picked up KFC on the way. It was an amazing evening! A beautiful warm night, swimming in the ocean under the stars and laughing with friends - good times!

Yesterday after attending the Easter Sunday dawn service at church, meeting with the senior minister then attending the 10:15am service, I headed to the beach for a few minutes just to wind down, and relax. It was wonderful. I'd like to do that more often. I'm also hoping to head up to the Dandenongs sometime in the next week to have some time to refresh, enjoy the beauty of the environment and do some hiking.

I got a text from Stella last night saying that it is snowing in London. Crazy times. Snow for Easter in London and Summer's not yet gone away here in Oz, almost a full month into Spring/Autumn!

For now though, I'd better finish this up. I have an essay to write!

I hope that you all had an incredible Easter!
    Lotsa Love, tash

OK, now I am jealous! If you get sick of Colum can I come with you to Cuba? I'll sleep on the floor and you can have the whole bed to youself! Now, there may be a slight problem in that I'll have to find a way to get to Belfast first...

Really looking forward to NZ :) Now I just gotta make sure that I can afford to actually sleep somewhere and eat occasionally when we are there, cos I am pretty broke right now! However, still planning on getting myself into more debt within the next 10 days and buying a car :)
