The Janellian Theory.
I'm thinking of submitting this on Wikipedia.
When Noah was gathering the animals for the ark so they could survive the great flood, he approached the Centaurs, Fauns, Satyrs and other half-human half-animal people. However, they all refused to board the ark as if they were mere animals (of which they assured Noah they were not, and couldn't he tell?). Being as stubborn as they were they were certain they would be able to survive this great flood on their own. They could not, however, survive the great flood, thus bringing forth their extinction and the explanation for their departure from all historical recollections from this point in history.
Noah was hesitant about having the dinosaurs on board because they took up a fair amount of the limited space, but became more hesitant as the carnivorous dinosaurs ate the herbivores. It is recorded that Noah thought of this as simply the circle of life. However, Noah became unhappy when the two Unicorns disappeared, knowing who was to blame. Noah became more agitated as more and more creatures were eaten by the dinosaurs, and the Sabre-Tooth Tigers were the last straw. It is thought that Noah considered God too busy with the great flood to answer Noah's "What shall I doeth?" so Noah decided to take matters into his own hands and throw the dinosaurs off of the ark. Jamaica Cake
So I met a girl.
