- You want to know what a Dark-Hunter is?
We're Mad, Bad and Immortal.
We're ancient warriors with attitudes who fight rough, and play hard.
We are the scary things that go bump in the night.
And we love every minute of it.
So when you think you're being watched.
You just might be.
The question is...is it something evil or is it one of us?
This group lets people find out and talk about the books the characters and the auther as well as a little bit on roleplaying thrown in for fun

Vocabulary
Act of Vengeance -- The one night a Dark-Hunter is given to extract his or her revenge on whoever wronged them and caused their deaths. It ends with the dawn.
Apollite -- Descendents of Apollo. They were once his chosen race, but when a group of them got together and killed his mistress and child, he cursed them all. Now they are forbidden to venture into daylight and they must drink blood from each other to live. The worst part of the curse is that they will all die on their 27th birthday (the age of his mistress).
Arcadians - Humans who can take animal form. They are descendents of a human father and an Apollite mother.
Bolt-Hole -- Astral openings between dimensions that are used by Were-Hunters. These were discovered by Daimons and are now used to shield a Daimon temporarily from a Dark-Hunter.
Blood-Hunt -- The search for a Rogue Dark-Hunter.
Buffites -- Human Vampire slayers.
Carmillas -- Women looking for Daimons to turn them into immortal vampires.
Daimon -- Vampires or demons. When an Apollite reaches the brink of their 27th birthday they have a choice. They can kill themselves or on the hour of their birth, their soul leaves them and they slowly, painfully deteriorate over a 24 hour period. The only out clause they have is if they turn Daimon and steal human souls to fool their bodies into maintaining their youth. So long as they host a living human soul, they can live indefinitely.
Dark-Hunter -- One who sells his or her soul to Artemis so that they can spend eternity hunting down the Daimons. In exchange for service, they are granted a single Act of Vengeance and are given money and servants to help them in their quest.
Day Dreamers -- Oneroi, Skoti and Dream-Walkers who don't have to be near their host to command them. These are the most powerful of their kins.
Dawn-Surfer -- A Dark-Hunter who dies by sunlight.
Day-Slayer -- Daimon myth about one of their kind who can move in daylight and who will one day come to lead them back into Apollo's favor.
Deadmen/Deadman Walking -- Humans who serve Daimons usually because they have been promised immortality.
Diktyon -- Net of Artemis that she uses when hunting.
Dream-Walkers -- Humans who can channel dreams and act as Skoti or Oneroi.
Expire -- The slang term for killing a Daimon
Fabio/Cato -- Derogatory term for a Daimon stemming from the fact that they are all blond and good-looking.
Four Realms - Time, Space, Earth, Dreams. These are what the Pyramid of Protection guard. There is only a small group of individuals who can walk all four.
Ink-blot -- Derogatory term for a Daimon stemming from the black stain they develop on their chest when they begin to take human souls. It is this spot that must be pierced to free the souls and to kill them.
Katagaria -- Plural term for the animal branch of the Were-Hunters. They are animals who can take human form.
Katoteros -- The mysterious, unknown place where Acheron lives.
Kolasis-- Atlantean term for where the Destroyer rests
Kori -- A servant of Artemis. They are found in her temple on Olympus.
Kynigostaia -- Homers history of the Dark-Hunters which was lost.
Oneroi -- Dream-Hunter champions who protect those who are asleep.
Out-Clause -- The means by which a Dark-Hunter can leave Artemis's service. I petition Artemis for your soul and it has to be returned to you via a loved one. Not a good choice, but if you're willing to trust them with your soul, then I'll talk to the goddess.
Patria -- Terms the Were-Hunters use that mean clan.
Rytis -- The ripple that allows Were-Hunters to travel forward and back through time.
Scooby -- Derogatory term Lykos Were-Hunters use to insult each other. Meaning a stupid or cowardly pup.
Scuds -- Young Daimons out to prove themselves worthy.
Sentinels -- Chosen by the Fates, they are members of the Arcadian Were-Hunters who protect the humans and Arcadians from the Katagaria.
Skoti -- Dream predator0 Comments 209 weeks

Different Species
There are many different species and branches who make up the world. But for those who are new to the universe, here's a quick tutorial:
Dark-Hunter: An ancient warrior who sold his/her soul to the Greek goddess Artemis for a single act of vengeance. Now they protect mankind from the Daimons who want to claim our souls.
Apollite: A member of a race cursed by the god Apollo. They cannot be out in daylight and they must live on the blood of each other. At age 27, they die a slow and painful death unless they decide to turn Daimon and prey on human souls.
Daimon: An Apollite who refuses to docilely die over a curse s/he had no part in creating. They feed on human souls and fight the Dark-Hunters.
Were-Hunter: Originally part of the Apollite race, their DNA was magically spliced with animals. Now they are shape-shifters who are embroiled in a war against each other.
Dream-Hunter: They are the gods of sleep who were cursed by the Greek gods to feel no emotion whatsoever. But they carry within them a dark secret that could completely shake the world in which they live. The Oneroi branch are often helpers to the Dark-Hunters.
Charonte: A race of demons who are extremely violent and amoral. They have a very interesting code of ethics.
Squire: A human who is employed by a Dark-Hunter or a human who has skills that make a Dark-Hunter's life a bit easier. They have an entire organization set up and are willing to die or kill to protect the secret of the DH world.
Oracle: One who speaks with the gods. They tend to be really crusty/cranky people.
Chthonian: A race of... well that would be the question. There are only a handful of them left and they are a CRANKY bunch.
Savitar: Yeah... in a class by himself
Ditto on Acheron.

I think it's nice, that there are those of us who dedicate groups to the Dark-hunter's, but I don't think Ash would appreciate the whole 'Sex God Acheron' thing. It's a little crude.
love the group xx
