Q-Youth Nelson is hosting a Regional Queer Youth Hui 29-31 January 2010. Modelled after the Kaha Hui in Wellington, this is an excellent opportunity for queer youth and queer youth workers to come together from around the country.
The Hui will begin at 11am on Friday 29th January at Fairfield House in Nelson. This part of the Hui is open to everybody and is planned as a brainstorming opportunity for the Queer Youth Network National Co-ordinator. This is an exciting new role funded by Rainbow Youth in Auckland. Rainbow Youth are developing a national focus and are filling the gap created by the closure of OUT THERE! We hope that we'll get lots of people together to help develop a vision for the future of the queer youth network in Aotearoa/NZ.
To follow this the hui will continue in Motueka - transport to Te Awhina Marae will be leaving from Fairfield House at 4pm. Te Awhina Marae is located in sunny and beautiful Motueka, a 40 minute drive from Nelson and is the venue for the weekend Hui. The weekend Hui will begin at 6pm with a full powhiri on the 29th of January. The Hui will finish at midday on the 31st of January (with transport back to Nelson from 1pm).
At the Hui Nathan Brown, of NZ Aids Foundation, will unveil the much anticipated CURIOUS website, an online information and networking site for queer youth all over NZ. The website launch is aptly timed, coinciding with the launch of Rainbow Youth's national focus, providing networking and support for our national queer youth networks.
$50 per person
