It looks like we've neglected Bebo a wee bit the term. We've been concentrating on the Facebook page so apologise to everyone on bebo. We'll keep this more up to date from now on, but I think we're gonna need a little help so if you guys want to see your pics on this page just add them to your Bebo and drop us a line to let us know and we'll add the best ones.

As you may know two Barony Bar staff are in Australia for a year studying. They are keeping in touch through the wonder of the internet. Danny has been looking for a bar job while he’s out there and below is an e-mail he sent us updating us of his progress. I thought you'd like a wee read about the horror that was my Australian bar work experience!

So I ended up getting trials for two bar jobs. Here’s the deal -

BAR 1 - Called Gilhooleys. Shite Irish bar. Night manager was an unpleasant wank. They haven't paid me for my trial so I'm going to back in and argue for my money. Pretty boring bar and I didn't want the job!

BAR 2 - The Brewhouse.
Brace yourself boys, this is brutal!

I done a trial in there and I was so surprised how bad it actually was. It’s basically a bar like the auctioneers which serves food etc and brews some of their own beers. The bar wasn't too nice and about 2 staff out of 9 said hello. Most of them didn't even acknowledge me which I thought was really shit. I always made an effort to at least say hello and introduce myself to new folk in the barony - it's just common courtesy innit?

The set up is there are 2 managers (Grant and Michelle) who are a couple, and 2 duty managers (Haines and Michael.) All a bunch of wanks. I even had to introduce myself to one of the DM's because he didn't even look at me.

It also ranked as the worlds worst bar setup ever! The kegs were all downstairs in a big kind of chill room - which is fair enough eh? unfortunately not, they're down a huge flight of stairs, and to get the keg you need (usually) at the back you have to take out about 8 full kegs before finally finding yours, carrying it up the stairs, dragging it through the kitchen, into the huge manky spider web which is the keg cellar! The bag in boxes are about 4 times the size/weight of the UK ones and are, ridiculously, stored above the bag in box machine, which is about a foot taller than me. It's also never been cleaned, and there's fucking syrup everywhere.

Also in the middle of the floor there's all the stock, which is ready to collapse because it isn't stored right, there's individual bottles everywhere... lots of random junk kicking about. The bins are covered in cockroaches etc place is a pit. Mick, you'd have shed tears mate, either that or you'd have rattled a vodka bottle of the managers gob!

The glass washers..... Good lord…..... Honestly it'd have probably have been more hygienic just to not wash the glasses... fucking rotten.

Also one of the kinda long term staff was a fucking first class boot who I’d have loved to kick right up the shitter! She was tremendously ugly, loud, and had a shocking overbite that'd have made Jon's stalkers friend look like a hot-ster. She kept telling me to do stuff that just had no logic, like bring individual stock in on a trolley - I was like what the fuck, I need two cases and a couple of individual bottles I'm not wasting my time with a fucking trolley..... Strictly for the tardcore!

So after 18 hours I decided fuck this shit! I was only doing it for some extra bucks and I’m not gonna miss the money too much. But instead of being hasty I decided that I'd only bin it if one more person was rude to me....

So in I go, manager just walks up and, without even saying hello, starts ranting out orders. So I told him I was quitting at the end of the shift. there's not much he can say to it so he asks me to do that shift and then come in on the following Tuesday and he'd just pay me cash in hand to save me going on the books etc.... that’s fine I think...

so Tuesday comes, and I head in. Him, nor is wife, are in and it's just one of the DM's. So I said hey man I’m here to collect my
