  • JEWELLERY DESIGNER TO THE STARS!!

    Growing up, most children think they want to be a doctor, or a fireman, or Cheryl Cole! Not so many know they want to design jewellery - however Anna Lou was making her own bracelets as a very young girl! Although it wasn’t until she was in her 20’s that she started to sell it on the famous Portabello Road market in London. Her quirky designs quickly drew attention from the big retailers and BAM two years later she has her own flagship store in the capital! This story, much like the jewellery itself seems to have a little bit of magic dust sprinkled all over it!!

    This beautiful range of jewellery has been pictured in Vogue, Elle, Glamour, Style Magazine, Grazia and is sold internationally in over 300 different stores! Wow!! AND it has an A* selection of celebrity fans - Kate Moss, Lily Allen, Paris Hilton, Emma Watson, Fearne Cotton and VV Brown have all been spotted donning the Anna Lou!

    Anna has given us some hints on how to get yourself onto the jewellery designing career ladder!!

    Believe it or not, Anna Lou, despite being an AMAZING jewellery designer, never actually had any formal training. And if university or art college isn’t for you, take a Saturday or evening class in design – go to your local college and see what classes are available.

    You have to enjoy making jewellery to want to do it as a career, so get in all the practice you can – if you can’t afford all the materials buy yourself some plastercine and that way you can reuse it over and over again! When you’re set on your final creation, put it in the freezer, and taaaa daaaa!!

    Make friends with your local bead shop – everyone needs a friend who can give them a discount!

    Get your friends wearing your designs –this is the easiest, cheapest and most effective way to drum up business early on. Once people see them wearing your brilliant designs, they will be queuing up your garden path to get their hands on them! And you’re pretty much sorted for all your friends’ Christmas and birthday presents for the rest of your career! Necklace anyone?!

    A strong theme through Anna’s collections is Britain, but she gets ideas from anything and everything. So always carry a notepad and pen with you to jot down any great shapes, ideas or themes that you find yourself inspired by!

    So peeps, go forth and design! And if you do make it big on the diamond scene..remember which lovely Closet started you on your way!!

  • WHAT WOULD CHERYL DO?

    You’re in the UK’s biggest selling girl band, judge on a talent show watched by 16million people, and are married to a famous footballer. Oh yes and your dress sense is amazing.

    It’s official, Cheryl Cole has it all. And we want it!!

    Now, there’s not much The Closet can do to help with the first three. However, with our easy aid style guide we’ll have you rockin’ the Chezza in no time! (all you have to do then is get yourself down to the sideline at Old Trafford…)

    Now, first things first. Where are you going? If you’re just heading down to a meeting with your management or rehearsals with the girls, you will need to work the ‘Casual Cheryl’. But if you’re off to dinner with your footballer boyfriend/husband/Simon Cowell and are likely to get papped, then DO NOT leave the mansion without your false eyelashes on.

    So, ‘Casual Cheryl’ loves a skinny jean! Known to wear a little bit of acid- wash/tye-dye, she adds a simple Tee, and adds a rock edge with a fitted leather jacket. Cheryl wears all brands of jean, from Diesel to True Religion and J Brand. Try Zara or Uniglo (from only £24.99!!) for a pair which won’t break the bank, but will leave your Wag mates eyeing you up enviously!

    Cheryl is NOT known for her love of flat shoes, so even ‘Casual Cheryl’ bams it out in a pair of heels. Obviously we wouldn’t want to ruin our Louboutins, so for daywear it’s best to invest in a pair of high street heel – we’ve spotted some fabulous ones in Faith. Lots of them have that Louboutin-esque red sole AND you save yourself the best part of £500!

    Now, Cheryl obviously has jewellery coming out of her ears..anyone with two wedding rings obviously loves a bit of bling. But what with having to save up for your Ferrari, it’s probably best not to spend all your easily earned money (photo shoots are NOT hard work daaaaahhhhling!!) on expensive decoration. Take yourself to the accessories section in Topshop or Dorothy Perkins and stock up on the ‘gold’. No one pitch-side will ever know the difference!

    ‘Glamorous Cheryl’ works an amazing dress like her career depends on it! Not afraid to try new designers, Chezza is young enough to try her hand at lots of different styles. But her staple - always a winner outfit - is a thigh length mini dress, with a serious amount of sparkle!

    Bright colours work really well with Cheryl’s skin tone, and if have been too busy to fly out to St. Tropezs recently, top your tan up with a little bit of fakers, and work that shade like you’re the eighth colour of the rainbow! Try Miss Selfridge for some brilliant minis which will take you the whole way through the party season – Elton and Simon won’t know what’s hit them!!

    So Closeteers, we’ve gave you the goods, now all you have to do is go forth and become the nations princess. We’ll look out for you in the charts!!

    if i won 100quid, i would treat my mom to a day out because she is such an amazing mother, she is like the cement in the 4 walls we live in because without her we would be lost. she always puts us kids first and makes sure we have everything we need. she is such a supportive mom, im going through my gcses and she is there on my shoulder. i think she deserves a little treat right now since its that festive time of the year :) . x x x x

    i would have a fab day out shopping and take my besto mate halle with me .

    we would hit the town of glasgow , dundee , and shop till we drop . and i mean it this time :L
    i would have a right girly day out with halle and buy clothes for the christams partys and christmas day , talk about treating my self :/ :L
    if i had anything left over i would probely buy some nice prezzies and take them to sick kids , or put it toward my familys driving trip around africa , to help others without home (yn)

    i would love to have a new closet for the coming year and to help the local people of south africa and here in my home town aberdeen .

    If i won & got £100 i would be spending it on a 21st birthday presant on my sister, a necklace with a key attached. Also i would spend some on Christmas presants, because i kinda have alot to get.

    If i had any left over i'm thinking treat my self to jeggins, and hair dye, so i could finally have the colour i want.

    Maybe insted of the hair dye, i might save some and put it towards taking my mates to the cinema as they've been amazing this year, and we need to spend sometime together as a group. Which would help us sercure are incredible friendsships.
