Probably just the winter nights drawing in; but suddenly everything seems like more of a struggle; like I'm doing the equivalent of running both an academic and emotional long distance marathon. At times it seems like it's hard to keep my head above surface levels; and I realise the meaning of the phrase "biting of more than you can chew".

And then the media makes me want to take early hibernation. Not only do we have John and Edward defying the idea of a talent show week in, week out; theres the release of New Moon and the associated screams of Edward Cullen fangirls. Eurgh. It seems like Edwards are like cockroaches; two of them are enough to cause you infinite torment and you just can't get rid of 'em.

(Apologies to any cockroaches reading this)

Anyway; it's beggars belief to me how the pseudo-religious, fanatical, mysoginistic (As I hope you are aware; I'm not a women; yet I find it offensive to women) and limp mormon propoganda Twilight Series ever got the following it did. It totally destroys the idea of a vampire; and the books are all substance and no style. Dire characterisation too. I advise anyone who considers this good fiction to go to their local library and read Bram Stoker's Darcula. Now that's a good read

Probably the most profound realisation of the holidays is that I've decided that I'm totally in favour of scottish independence. Yup, In all reality the feelings had been there for a long time, I've just refrained from expressing them until I was certain that I just hadn't been caught up in Propoganda - I've always disagreed with the idea of British Supremacy; and I think that the term "Great" Britain is a load of sentimental crap. We're not great. We cause more disturbances abroad than any other nation. We get drunk more. We are the worlds worst football hooligans. And Yet we still think we're better than everyone else.

A lot of the problems (although recognisable in Sectarian old firm rivarly) belong to the English rather than us. With my own eyes abroad I've seen countless obnoxious, smarmy, fat beer belly parading englishmen and women order around service workers like they were slaves. And then there's the countless talking to foreigners like they are five years olds thing. It really infuriates me. Abroad, when asked what country I'm from; I never fail to say Scotland. It's who I am (and whenever I say scotland abroad foreigners are gratified. We clearly have a better reputation from the English).To be honest; I would be ashamed to say I'm British. The connotations are far harsher.

Then there's the fact that Scotland suffers from Westminster government. They don't represent us; they don't listen to us. They dump nuclear weapons in our country and drag us into wars.

Even The great icons and symbols of Britain speak of nothing more than nostalgia. Scotland has it's own great traditions; icons and idiosyncracies. And it's in my Blood to say that these are far greater than anything the english have. We don't need a British Identity. The Scottish Identity is great enough.

Some people would argue that we'd lose something form becoming a strong nation. Far from it. Being a small nation would strengthen national feeling; as well as reduce the capability of becoming corrupt. Sometimes it's better to be the smaller, bright popular kid rather than the playground bully.

And Yes, I enjoyed Greece. Particuarly the Weather, Culture, Architecture, scenery. And The Hospitality shown by all. Perhaps more on that another time. I've ran out of time.
