• Everton Football Club was formed in 1878 (before Liverpool).
• Nicknamed The Toffees.

• Everton have not been relegated in 49 years. This is the 2nd longest period after Arsenal.

• Goodison Park was built in 1892.
• It is Everton’s third football ground.
• Its capacity is 40,260.
• It is one of the oldest football grounds in the world and was the first major football ground in England.
• It was the first British sports ground ever to have double – decker stands on all 4 sides.
• It was the first British sports ground ever to have a 3 tier stand.
• It was the first British sports ground to have undersoil heating.
• It was the first British football ground to have dug – outs.
• It is the only ground in the world to have a church (St. Luke the Evangelist) in a corner of the stadium.
• Goodison Park has hosted more International matches than any other English club.
• Goodison Park staged England’s first ever home defeat, when the Republic of Ireland beat them 2 – 0 in 1949.
• Goodison Park has staged more Top Flight games than any other football ground in Britain.
