- We often ask God to show up. We pray prayers of rescue. Perhaps God would ask us to be that rescue, to be His body, to move for things that matter. He is not invisible when we come alive. I might be simple but more and more, I believe God works in love, speaks in love, is revealed in our love.

The Book Blog: 2009
And so it begins...
1. 'Milkweed' by Jerry Spinelli
He did it again. Truly wonderful.
2. 'Self Harm: The Path to Recovery' by Kate Middleton & Sara Garvie
One of the better books i've read on the topic.
3. 'Scarred' by Sophie Andrews
Oh my word. Heartbreaking, much?
4. 'In the Place of Fallen Leaves' by Tim Pears
Beautifully written, but it doesn't really go anywhere..
5. 'On the Edge: My Story' by Richard Hammond
Awww. i love him.
6. 'The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas' by John Boyne
Should be on every 'must read' list ever.
7. 'For One More Day' by Mitch Albom
Nzuri sana.
8. 'Tideland' by Mitch Cullin
Creepy book. Weirrrrd.
9. 'Sweetie' by Jenny Tomlin
Quite distressing, yet couldn't put it down.
10. 'Self-Injury: When Pain Feels Good' by Edward T Welch
*shrugs*
11. 'The Little Prince' by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
Awww.
12. 'Bloodletting: A True Story of Secrets, Self-Harm and Survival' by Victoria Leatham
Same old, same old.
13. 'I Capture the Castle' by Dodie Smith
So good.
14. 'The Boy Who Loved Anne Frank' by Ellen Feldman
Ohmigosh. <3
15. 'The Children of Green Knowe' by Lucy M. Boston
Sweet story =]
16. 'Cut' by Cathy Glass
Sad.
17. 'Without Mercy' by Miriam Ali
Not the best piece of writing in the world, but the story is an eye-opener.
18. 'Manic' by Terri Cheney
Enjoyed the way in which this was written..
19. 'The Incredible Adam Spark' by Alan Bissett
So good. Love the writing style. It's like a grown-up 'Curious Incident'
20. 'Jesus Wants to Save Christians: A Manifesto for the Church in Exile' by Rob Bell
Brilliant. Read it!
21. 'The Gospel According to Chris Moyles' by Chris Moyles
Absolute rubbish as a book.. better as sheer entertainment.
22. 'What I Was' by Meg Rosoff
Beautiful and surprising. Rosoff's writing never fails!
23. 'Poppy Shakespeare' by Clare Allan
Strikes the perfect balance of being entirely amusing, without being insensitive. So good.
24. 'Ugly Shy Girl' by Laura Dockrill
hahaha. i'm so glad i'll never be 17 again.
25. 'Love, Stargirl' by Jerry Spinelli
For once a follow-up book that didn't disappoint.
26. 'Beatrix Potter's Journal' by Beatrix Potter
Absolutely beautiful layout of a book. It was like being a child again!
27. 'Ruby' by Francesca Lia Block & Carmen Straton
A little more grown-up Block, but without losing the magic.
28. 'Just In Case' by Meg Rosoff
Lovely.
29. 'Peter Pan' by J.M. Barrie
<3333
30. 'Drops Like Stars' by Rob Bell
Probably my favourite read of the year (so far). A stunner of a book. Laid out beautifully, with some lovely photos and wonderful words. Win.0 commenti 154 giorni
