You must be able to take a profesionaly minded attitude into investigations and be willing to conduct research in locations where other people would scream and run....

Niddry Street Vaults
Investigation Report

Date: Friday 21st November

Team members present:
Dale, Nicola, David, Phil, Suzanne, Lisa & Angela

The team arrived just before midnight for their 6 hour Investigation of Edinburgh’s Niddry Street Vaults and with all the reports of paranormal activity in the vaults we were desperate to get things underway.
Once Inside we set up base camp in the torture museum as this room was the warmest and best lit We started our Investigation with conducting base line tests of each area of the vaults measuring Temperature, Humidity, EMF and getting a general feel for the vaults.

After conducting base line tests we split into small groups of between 2 and 3 people to do a series of vigils covering all areas of the vaults. Only after these vigils did we discuss each of our experiences in each room. We did this so nobody went into the rooms having heard other peoples experiences first.

Room one:
Nobody reported anything paranormal in this room however it was noted that there was lots of dripping water (natural cause) and loud music could be heard from the pub above.

Room two:
This room had a eerie feel to it perhaps the stuffed dummy of the killer from the Halloween movies added to this. David reported briefly seeing a floating light in this room.

Room three:
The only incident of note in this room was the presence of a breeze. We lit a candle and tried to locate the source but we were unable to say exactly what was causing this breeze.

Room four:
This room has a rather infamous reputation with it’s much talked about stone circle inside. Team members Dale, David & Nicola were the only three Investigators to enter the stone circle to conduct a vigil. The only incident of note in this room was a swaying sensation felt by Angela.

Room five:
This room was used to place trigger objects in. Once this was done the room was secured by way of beam barrier alarms. At the end of our night we were disappointed to find our objects in exactly the same place as we left them.

New section of Vaults:
Each Investigator felt a very uneasy feeling in this area. The feeling of being watched and not wanted was very strong.

After our vigils we agreed that the new section of the vaults was the most deserving of further Investigation and decided to put our scientific tools down for a while and try a more traditional means of sprit communication - Glass Divination in the new section.
During this experiment it is believed that we contacted a male witch in his 20s who lived in the 1700s and was tried for witchcraft. The man was eager to profess his innocence but didn’t want to give any details of his death but the much stronger movement of the glass when the mention of his death came up made us feel he was not happy about how he died.

EVP experiments were also conducted in each area of the vaults. Out of all the recording we made we only caught one EVP and this was captured in the new section of the vaults.

In the last half our of our Investigation we decided to try some more Glass Divination in the new section of the vaults. This time we think we may have received contact from a sprit known personally to a member of our group. During this communication we conducted a small experiment where Dale concealed up a number of fingers only disclosed this number to Lisa. (Dale and Lisa were not involved in the Glass divination and care was taken not to let other members know the number of fingers held up) the spirt was then asked to communicate using the glass the number of fingers being hidden by Dale. This was done three times each time the correct answer was given.

In conclusion we feel that we would like to conduct a further Investigation in Niddry Street vaults at a later date to try and obtain a bit more evidence. With only one EVP, personal experiences and the information from the glass divination not being precise or checkable we would not like to say for sure if Niddry Stre
