I am writing this at 12.30am, the early hours of the morning of Cyril Bradwell's funeral... Another night where I am struggling to get to sleep, too many thoughts swirling round in my head. Tonight though, it is understandable. As you may have heard, Cyril was Promoted to Glory late last week, and the loss has kind of hit me harder than I thought it would for somebody who wasn't related to me.

The man was truly an inspiration to all he met, be they Christian or not, he was a loving, caring, kind soul who saw the best in people... And in turn, people saw the best in him, always. I know he is partying it up in heaven right now, and that is the best thing since sliced bread, but we all miss him down here. Even though deep down, we all knew it was coming, I never tought I would be facing the day that I would be heading down to Wellington South to sit in the chair in the Brass Band and play a beautiful piece like 'Serenity' for the man's last wishes. I will never be able to see the piece in the same light again, as it will always remind me of Cyril from this day on.

I have two quotes about the man that I think sum up all of how I am feeling right now
- First one is from my own mother, upon hearing of his funeral. She is a nurse and the only contact she had of him was a short spell when he was in Wakefield hospital after an operation. I told her of the occasion and said that it would be "one hell of a send-off", and her simple reply stuck with me:
"Well, he deserves it"... Yes, he does. He deserves the best sendoff that we can give him.

- Second one is from the wise words of Major David Noakes. He is another who is truly an inspiration, especially in such a time as this. A man who likes his metaphors and imagery, his words were:
"A mighty oak has fallen"... What more needs to be said.

So, if you are readig this in time, the service is at 12 Midday today 2/12/08 at Wellington South Salvation Army Hall. There is another on at Linwood (Christchurch) and I'm sure others around the country somewhwere too. rest in Peace Cyril Bradwell, you deserve it mate.

Just got back early this morning from Norther Division Easter Camp. Yes Abe, it was mean... very mean. Meaner than mean in fact it was bone crunchingly, finger lickingly awesome. But that is a blog for another day, basically I had a good time.

Well, I'm still at teacher's college, still stressing out. Still working at Hell, oops, I mean Whitcoulls. I feel more and more like Bernard Black every day (you should al know who that is, if you cal yourself a comedy fan). I am currently writing a poetry lesson, so I feel very artsy and creative right now.

As for Tracey's comment. I suppose you're right, Apples that are oranges and oranges that are apples. We may all look different on the outside, but there is always a bit of Orange in al of us.
