Once upon a time there was a poor and lonely servant girl, her face beaten and bruised by her master’s rough love for her. She stood by the window of her master’s bedroom. Her clothes’ tattered and torn. She gazed through the cold glass. She yearned for a young, daring and handsome prince to come and rescue her. But this is no fairy-tale. In this story there is no handsome prince. There is no daring rescue. There is no Beautiful maiden, for this servant girl was no more beautiful than the rats that crept though the room. However. There is magic.

A shiver ran down the girls’ spine as a young and beautiful woman stared back at her from the window. The woman sat poised on her broom. Her cold lips arched as they formed a evil grin.
“My child I have seen the ways of your wicked master, and I have come to set you free”, the witches words bounded against the walls of the room, each echo sounding darker than the last. “I have a potion that will grant your deepest wishes, letting you be reborn into a body of flawless beauty and everlasting youth.” The girl flinched with temptation. “But this magic is not without a price, In return you must relinquish your soul to me.” The slave girl turned away to make her decision. She knew it was a unfair trade.

From the shadows of the house came a clattering of cold steal being dragged across a floor, yells echoed through the halls. The man who stole her innocents. The man who cared not for her but for her body. The slave girls master bellowed, Demanding her company.

The window turned to liquid as the witches hand stretched forth from the dark night into the room. She held in her hand a glass vial filled with a powdered solution that changed colour. From a bloody Red, to a mystic purple, to a hollow black.
The slave girl ran towards the door and twisted the rusted lock. The master knocked harshly on the door and demanded to be let in. He threatened and scorned the girl. His fists slamming hard against the door. The girl pushed back against the door trying to hold back the door. Tears streamed down her face as the witches hand extended across the room. The bright louring colours of the glass vial twinkled in her hand.

Shivering the girl slowly stretched forth her hand to take the offer. Suddenly the witch grabbed her hand as the glass vial dropped to the floor and shattered the powder turned to a grey dust. The witch smirked as the girl was drawn towards the window. The girls master smashed through the door only to see the witch pull the girl suddenly through the window into the black abyss. The witch let go and disappeared. The girl hung in the darkness, frozen in time with the shards of glass surrounding her. A final tear slid from her eye. The glass began to fly around her body, tearing away her skin. The girls lips quivered as she stretched open her mouth to scream but could not. The glass tore away her lips her hair her tongue. The girls’ blood floated away into the dark abyss. And as the girl took her last painful breath she felt relieved that it was at an end.

The glass melted away as the girl fell through the darkness. The liquid glass poured over what remained of the tattered body. Forming a new glistening skin over the girl’s broken bones.

The girl awoke to a bed of white rose petals in a dark castle. She examined her crystal body, smooth and shiny. Her clothes’ made of the finest silks with beautiful black and red colours. She filled it well. Her master was gone. Her disgusting body replaced with a glistening one. But she felt cold and empty. Like the castle she lived in. There was still no one.

Many years pasted and rumours’ spread of a beautiful woman of glass, who lived alone in a dark castle but no-one, came for the young woman. Until, on one night when the sky was red from the setting sun. A Dark Prince rode up to the castle. He dismounted his black bony horse and knocked at the door of the castle. “Ting, ting, ting”, quiet
