WE OPPOSE THE SDL
"We strongly oppose plans by the 'Scottish Defence League' - a group linked to the fascist BNP - to demonstrate in Glasgow city centre and march on the local mosque.
The SDL is a racist group dedicated to attacking Asian people and Muslims. Islamophobia - bigotry against Muslims - is as unacceptable as any other form of racism. Its aim is to divide us by making scapegoats of one community, just as the far-right did with Jews in the 1930s.
We have a simple message for these racist and fascist groups. We will not let you turn the clock back to the 1970s when their thugs could attack black and Asian people with impunity.
An injury to one is an injury to all - and their attempts to target and scapegoat Muslims will fail.
Today they threaten the Mosque, tomorrow it could be a Synagogue, Temple or Church.
Today they threaten Muslims, tomorrow it could be Catholics' Jewish people, Hindus, Sikhs, black people, lesbians & gay men, trade unionists, travellers or Eastern Europeans.
There is no place for Nazis, racists or the BNP in Glasgow's multi-racial, multi-cultural and multi-religious community. We call on the Leader of Glasgow City Council and the Police to ban the SDL/EDL action."

IF
IF you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:
If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!'
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
' Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch,
if neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

A.F.C. Milan3 days agoStatic Stretching Exercise
holding each stretch for 10 seconds or so.
Prior to a match these light, general warm up activities should become more soccer specific...
Short sprints, some twisting and turning movements and jumping should start to feature. It's also a good idea to add a ball or two. The emphasis however, is still on the physical component (rather then touch and skill).
A ball is not necessary if you are simply warming up for a training session.
Some skill work and passing drills can follow as intensity drops for a few minutes. This is when players should as focus as much on mentally preparing as physically warming up.
A soccer warm up should finish with some demanding drills that mirror the intensity of a competitive game...
Keeping this section short (5 minutes at most) won't tire the players for the game but it will kick start their body's ability to buffer and remove lactic acid.
-
A.F.C. Milan3 days agoWARM UP
1. Decreases the risk of injury.
2. Increases agility, skill, power and performance.
3. Allows players to mentally prepare and focus on the game or session at hand.
A cold muscle is stiff and rigid. Sudden twisting, turning and stretching can place greater tension on muscles and connective tissue than they can handle...
Warming up and stretching the active muscles in soccer can decrease the risk of strains, sprains and muscle tears.
Muscles can also produce energy faster when they are warm. This can affect speed and power, not to mention the ability to perform complex skills and movements with accuracy and precision.
By also practising some short, sharp drills, an effective soccer warm up can get players into the right state of "readiness" right from the kick off. How often do teams and individual players take 15 minutes or so to get into the pace of a game?

Want to be a football pro?
But have you really got what it takes to follow in the footsteps of your favourite star?
Some clubs still hold trials, or talent days, but these are becoming a thing of the past.
Instead, most clubs now have a vast network in place that helps them pinpoint the best young talent in their area.
Many run community schemes which allow them to keep in touch with the people who run the sport at grassroots level.
They liaise with local schools and with the managers of county or district teams.
They also have scouts who will be out and about watching matches all over the country and reporting back to them.
If you're good enough, generally they'll find you. -

England door slammed shut on old firm
Last night Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore told the Rangers and Celtic in no uncertain terms "No means no!"
""The clubs constitutionally voted to say we are not going to take this any further.
"We have made a clear and unequivocal statement. No means no - Celtic and Rangers are not coming in."
Last night Rangers and Celtic were muted in their reaction to the English premier league decision.
A spokesman for Celtic said: "
"Clearly, this is a matter for the Premier League and an initiative created by members of the EPL.
"We have always maintained a watching brief on this issue, however at the moment we note the decision and move on."
Rangers added: "We note the statement issued by the Premier League earlier today.
"We were not actively involved in the Phil Gartside proposals presented to the EPL but have watched with interest the development of this issue in recent months." -

SAY NO 2 BIGORTY
Scotland has given rise to many more famous people, notable in the arts, literature, the sciences and as inventors, philosophers, architects and so on than would be expected for a country of such modest size and population.
Likewise CATHOLICS/PROTESTANTS and other religions have played a great part in the development of Scotland
Sectarianism is often manifested in activities such as boorish chanting at football matches or post-match thuggery, quite contrary to the values of peace common to Catholicism Protestantism and other Religions.
The Scottish Parliament has recently legislated against sectarianism, making sectarian-related offences a form of aggravated offence

NO MEANS NO !!!
On a given day in 1994 there were approximately 234,000 offenders convicted of rape or sexual assault under the care, custody, or control of corrections agencies; nearly 60% of these sex offenders are under conditional supervision in the community.
The median age of the victims of imprisoned sexual assaulters was less than 13 years old; the median age of rape victims was about 22 years.
An estimated 24% of those serving time for rape and 19% of those serving time for sexual assault had been on probation or parole at the time of the offense for which they were in State prison in 1991.
Of the 9,691 male sex offenders released from prisons in 15 States in 1994, 5.3% were rearrested for a new sex crime within 3 years of release
Of released sex offenders who allegedly committed another sex crime, 40% perpetrated the new offense within a year or less from their prison discharge. -

DONT QUIT !!!
When things go wrong as they sometimes will
When the road you're trudging seems all up hill.
When funds are low and the debts are high.
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh.
When care is pressing you down a bit.
Rest, if you must, but don't you quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns.
As everyone of us sometimes learns.
And many a failure turns about
When he might have won had he stuck it out:
Don't give up though the pace seems slow -
You may succeed with another blow.
Success is failure turned inside out -
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt.
And you never can tell how close you are.
It may be near when it seems so far:
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit
It's when things seem worst that you must not QUIT.

A.F.C. Milan3 weeks agoStatic Active flexibility
Your ability to stretch an antagonist muscle using only the tension in the agonist muscle. An example is holding one leg straight out in front of you as high as possible. The hamstring (antagonist) is being stretched while the quadriceps and hip flexors (agonists) are holding your leg up.
Static Passive flexibility
Your ability to hold a stretch using your body weight or some other external force. Using the example above imagine holding your leg out in font of you and resting it on a chair. Your quadriceps is not required to hold the extended position.
Dynamic flexibility
Your ability to perform a variety of movements within the full range of motion about a joint. An example is swinging a leg back and forth as if to kick an imaginary ball.
The most relevant to soccer is dynamic flexibility, although the other two play an important role. -

"Trying to psychoanalyse telephone nuisance call perpetrators is always tricky, but usually the reason turns out to be jealousy, or some kind of personal failing in the personal life of the hoaxer.
It's best not to get involved. Police advice is to initially ignore hoax messages and if the problem persists, then go for an investigation.
Offenders can be prosecuted, their details stored on a police database a bit like the sex offenders register in case they repeat-offend. This usually does the trick, and repeat offenders are rare".
The attackers are not making themselves look big by it, and by indulging in such Childish practices they have already demeaned themselves.
If you lived in a fortified castle and you heard that someone was throwing bad fruit at the outer walls, you'd surely laugh at them from the top of the ramparts!? Your enemy might not even be worth an arrow.

A.F.C. Milan
Making phone calls to annoy people is a form of harassment and is now regarded as a criminal offence, a psychological form of assault. It is taken quite seriously, and is not "harmless".
Police and the criminal justice system will prosecute antisocial behaviour of this type. Also, ISPs and telephone companies are keen to take action to remove abusers from their systems.
people who make hoax phone calls are in some ways psychologically deficient and are doing this as an attempt to compensate for their own inadequacies.
This goes further than the idea of "they haven't properly grown up" and is often symptomatic of an underlying personality fault similar to that found in cases of other types of Abuser.
Even if the hoaxers are withholding the phone number, using a mobile phone, using other people's phones, or using random public call boxes, they can be caught, and they often are, much to their surprise. When caught, they can be punished.

Athletic Football Club Milan3 weeks agoRedmond O'Neill, who died last week at the age of 54, was an anti imperialist and socialist who campaigned consistently against war and racism.
As a senior adviser to the former London mayor, Ken Livingstone, he helped to facilitate events and demonstrations for the anti war movement.
He brought Jesse Jackson over to speak on the major demo against the Iraq war on February 15 2003, he helped organise a series of Xmas parties for peace at City Hall, and he ensured that Trafalgar Square was available whenever possible to hold the rallies over Iraq, Palestine and Afghanistan that have been at the heart of the movement. Redmond was instrumental in campaigning against Islamophobia and in defence of the Muslim community.
He will be sadly missed by the movement. We send our deepest sympathy and condolences to his partner, Kate Hudson, to his family, to his friends and comrades.
His funeral will be on Friday 30th October at Highgate Cemetery at 11am -
