- This group is for people that are 'coeliacs'
The scientific name and description is when the body's immune system attacks its on tissue, this is triggered by gluten, found in number of things such as wheat, oats barley and rye. Eating this will cause the lining of the bowels to become damaged and can cause diffrent affects in different people such as vomiting, diarrhoea and headaches.
so basically it seems to be an allegy to gluten. (Yet it isn't for some reason). So this group is for coeliacs to actually meet someone else that is one too. As i have never met anyone who is like me, and want people to swap ideas, recipes and friendly advice, warnings, changes in recipes.
Coeliac's should not be ashamed of what they have, its a gift to eat healthy and to be diffrent from most people.

Contagious? No...
Being a Coeliac is not contagious. Coeliac does run in families, but not in a predictable way. Studies show that if a family member has the condition, there is a 1 in 10 chance of a close relative developing the disease. Anyone who has a relative with coeliac disease should be aware of the symptoms, and should discuss with their doctor about getting tested if they think they may have it.
The symptoms could be triggered at any age
Sometimes a stressful event such as pregnancy or childbirth can trigger coeliac disease in some people. The majority of people are diagnosed between 40 - 60 years of age.

My Grandad is a Coeliac
ii Feel Sorry For Him Really

I remember when bridget was diagnosed. She was like "Omg i've got this disease" and naturally being an idiot I had no idea what the hell she was talking about.
Ooo I feel special. I wrote like a ton of stuff on here.
Yay. I got some questions for ya.
1. How old were you when you got diagnosed?
2. How long have you been diagnosed?
I was 13 and that was a little over a year ago.
