- We are MyPlace Theatre Co and we started out life by running a 12 week long project in Musselburgh with a group of highly talented young people. The project culminated in a devised show at Queen Margaret University, which took place early this year.
Three members of our talented and dedicated team have just finished an intensive 2 week summer school at the Brunton Theatre with an amazing group of young people, aged between 11 and 15. The group created their own murder mystery show which they called "Romeo and Juliet : The REAL Tragedy!". The show was a huge success and we were all so proud of the hard work that went in to it! We will all miss the guys soooooo much!
Soooo....we will be keeping an eye on happenings in Musselburgh and we hope to be back soon for more drama antics!

- Aged 22, from Cumbernauld, works in Tesco where the perks are few.
The organised one.
Loves - drama and theatre, obscure music, sketching, her friends, volunteering with Lung Ha's, swimming, her dog (now!).
Hates- public transport, Jill and Elaine's car singing!
WARNING - This one is prone to telling it like it is! - CHERYL
- Aged 21, from Rutherglen, works in Lush so gets soapy goodies for much cheapness!
The one with felt pens.
Loves- The Stereophonics, Radio Lollypop, fashion distractions, indie music, Urban Decay, drama workshops, her Boyf and Elaine's dog!
Hates- Tuesday's class, getting out of bed before lunchtime, Jill and Elaine's car singing!
WARNING- This one hates being given a nickname, it's not advised! - JILL
- Aged 22, from Hamilton, works in a coffee shop so gets cakey goodies for much cheapness!
The eye candy.
Loves- Cheesy pop, jogging, Zack Effron and Leon Jackson, holidays in the sun, drama, singing in the car with Elaine, her Boyf and her dog!
Hates - Being broke, Tuesday's class!
WARNING - This one catches every bug known to man, may be contagious! - ELAINE
- Aged 28 (oh my!), from East Kilbride, works as an extra for TV and film so gets regularly humiliated for not nearly enough money!
The Redhead.
Loves- Dave Grohl, her crazy mix of Ipod tunes, drama and theatre stuff, red wine, singing in the car with Jill, all animals (she's veggy), her Boyf and her dog!
Hates- Cruelty to animals, M8 traffic, small mindedness.
WARNING - This one has RED hair, any mention of the G word does not go down well!

Let's get it started...
So, we're now working towards creating our show and it's going great! Our group has dwindled to five peeps but together they have as much talent and enthusiasm as a full West End cast! Woot!
Last Monday's workshop saw the group creating their own characters, who will all be connected in some way. So far, our cast includes an uptight social worker, a young and jolly coffee shop girl, a chemo, and a drug dealing granny!
Dear MyPlace Massive,
Our resident playwrite, Alan, is incredibly impressed with the depth that the characters you have created all have. You guys have given him so much to work with and he's very very excited about writing the show! Us girls are so proud of each of you! The commitment you have shown and the work that you have produced has blown us away, keep it up!!! We're really looking forward to watching this show come together!

The Big Kick-off...
So.....
After much fretting at QMU reception (and feeling like nobody was coming to our party) who did we see strolling casually through University sqaure?...ABBIE!!!! She brought news that Lynne was on crutches but was still coming, what a keen bean
Next to arrive was Liam and Paul (who had jogged all the way!). We even had some new blood in the form of the lovely Malie
Arriving fashionable late were Dylan, James and John, well we can't have a workshop without our cheeky chappies now can we!
The workshop was a blast, it was a shame some of the boys had to leave early but we will do everything we can to ensure that everyone can make it to and from the uni safely each week...fingers and toes crossed for that mini bus guys!
We're so looking forward to next week, so more fretting for us (for the time being at least!)
You are all absolute stars!!!!!

Tastes like success to me!
So.... the taster workshops are done and dusted and we coudln't be happier right now!
They were a huge success! Thursday night we were working with nine amazing young people (you know who you are) all from different backgrounds. We were thrilled to bits with their contributions to the workshop and we had such a laugh with them all.
It's looking highly likely that BANG will be a regular feature as they are a competitive bunch! :p
We really think that this project is gonna be a massive success and we're all feeling quite attached to the group already
Now...with the project kicking off tonight we are waiting with baited breath to see if the guys and gals come along. It's a strange mix of excitement and fear but we have every faith that they really enjoyed themselves last week and will be knocking down our door come 7pm tonight!
As we say in Glasgay...YALDAY!

As for us, we have all graduated and are workng away on our own things just now and applying for teaching etc, very exciting - not!

Congrats on your success!
Sadly The Venue is still Venue-less but the Childrens Entertainment (in the meantime) is taking off and will provide us with some added oomph when we finally find somewhere!
