- What is Oxjam?
Oxjam is Oxfam's most ambitious music event ever. We're asking musicians, promoters - in fact, everyone - to put on all kinds of music events during March 2009 to raise money for Oxfam.
You can organise or tag an event or even get sponsored to make music, raise money and help end poverty. We would love to have Oxjam parties, gigs and anything musical take place throughout March.

- Who's in the line up?
- Everyone! From your Grandma to your baby brother, you are the stars of the show! It's not about famous faces telling you what they think about poverty - it's about you telling them by getting involved and being part of a national movement!
- How can I get involved?
- Visit http://www.oxfam.org.uk/oxjam to register your interest and download your handy Oxjam toolkit to find out how to get involved and get started! Events can be anything you like from a gig in your local area to sponsored bagpipe playing up a mountain to a music quiz or a dead rock stars party - its entirely up to you how you wanna Oxjam!

- The money you raise for Oxjam will go towards funding Oxfam's work around the world. You will be helping to raise hundreds of thousands of pounds so that the poorest people in the world can overcome poverty and suffering in your lifetime. We need you to make it happen, we need you to make a difference.

Last-Minute Fundraising
With everything in place for your OXJAM event, is there anything else you can do to generate interest and turnout?
EASY, ACCESSIBLE TICKETING - Make it as easy as possible for people to commit to attending your event. We'd strongly recommend you check out WeGotTickets (www.wegottickets.com) for simple, straightforward advanced ticket purchasing.
WORD OF MOUTH - The most powerful promotions tool out there. As well as using Facebook, why not involve your friends and friends of friends? If everyone working on your event invites five people to come along you'll sell-out in no time!
LOCAL CONNECTIONS - Getting the local press, your nearest college, as well as any religious or community centres on board with promoting your event will ensure you contact nearly everyone in your local community directly. Their mailouts, noticeboards and meetings are fantastic channels to reach individuals in your area.
YOUR LOCAL OXFAM - It's definitely worth asking your local Oxfam shop if they'd mind displaying flyers or posters. People who're interested in helping Oxfam by using our shops are very likely to support a music event that raises money for Oxfam projects.

Just a quick note to tell you about the Shed's St Andrew's Day School Disco!
Sunday 29th November at the Shed in Shawlands.
There is a tartan theme and drinks are priced from 1.50.
As usual we expect the school disco to be a major sell-out so arrive early.

the scottish borders bigger oxjam music festival happening on april 17th 2009 in the volunteer hall galashiels starting at 8pm. the evening will be hosted by td1 radio. 3 bands take to the stage 'she' great female fronted power pop/Rock cover band. 'modus' this is the best modern day mod pop band youll hear complete with their retro stage show. look out for this band as they are tipped to do big things this year. also starting the show will be local favorites 'the sunbeams' you can bet youll be dancing from the off with this band. tickets only cost 5 pounds and are available from www.ambertower.co.uk. also tickets give you free entry to move night club on the night. thanks for your support.

Christianna Shace 105 semanasHey, we're organising ANOTHER Oxjam event comming up on Sat 1st Dec at the round house Camden, London....please please help us make this a huge one as we have 300 tickets to sell.....we are trying to get a big name in on the gig as well as all the fantastic unsigned bands that have donated their time to us for the gig! We are struggling to find people that will do stuff for free, like flyers and promotions...any tips/ hints? This will be the 3rd gig we have done, and if we can fill the venue on this one , our next ambitious gig will be at Wembly, yes people Wembly.......if i'm still standing after all the late nights, early mornings and stress that have come with setting things up, but you know what, it's worth it when it all comes togther at the end! Is there any of that XFM money left to help out? If not don't worry, but any tips or suggestions would be VERY welcome! lol.....hope to see as many of you there as possible supporting us on this big one! x chrissy x x x x x
