Well, people probably don't recognize me as Alison Baker, that's my married name !
Alison Hill was my maiden name....
Life changed for me when I met my husband back in 2000, Martin was Active Duty in the United States Air Force stationed in Ramstein Air Force Base, Germany....we had a long distance relationship, which was hard especially when he was flying all over the world with American Senator's ( he flew DV,meaning extremly important people here in USA)...........I would fly to Germany one week and spend time when he was not flying and then Martin would come to Newmains and spend time with me when I was not working as a nurse.....
In October 2000, Martin asked me to marry him and come live in USA.....that was a big step that I had to make in my life, I had a lot of questions that I needed to ask myself and of course my family, especially when my brother made me an "Auntie" with my nephew Dylan........but I had to make my life happen.........no-one else can make my life except me !!! So I knew I loved Martin and we had too try it out.......so March 2001 I made my mind up and accepted Martin's hand in marriage.....BIG changes were happening now in my life....I had to talk to my parents,especially my "Daddy", that day I will NEVER forget.....

In April 2001, Martin got his orders to leave Germany and come back to his home here in USA, being stationed at Travis Air Force Base,California....Knowing that I would not see him for 4 months was hard, to say the least it was F***'n hard......
We said out "Goodbye's" and he left .......to go back to Travis AFB and find us a home to make our new life together !

I handed in my 3 months notice at Law Hospital, spent as much time with my family before I was leaving Scotland to move to USA......
On 11th August 2001 my parent's threw a going away party for me..........now that's when it set in ......not knowing when or where I would see my family again......
So 17th August came around fast and saying " Bye Bye" to my family was hard.....especially my Daddy & Nephew "Dee".............
So, now I look back and think about thing's and now I have an "Awesome life out here in Cali" as the Yankees say............."I'm living the American dream" !!
September 11th happened, they deployed Martin to the "War" as we speak !!! That was hard, as we drive on the other side of the road and the steering wheel on opposite sides and speaking a "different lingo".........The US MIlitary does a lot for deployed spouses ......
In December 2003 Martin retired from the USAF and now working full-time.....we get a good retirement from the "Yankee" Goverment, free medical and cheap flights and now our life is grand.....
July 2005 we sold our house , made really serious cash and living in a beautiful home with a swimming pool, and a huge garage to garage our 3 Porsche's.....
October 2006 Martin bought me a beautiful GMC Yukon GT Truck, to haul the 2 Samoyed's Stern & Katiya dog's......................
