About Me

Me, Myself, and I
ok, stop-gap was rubbish so i'll put down some more.
right now i'm in an internet cafe in yogyakarta on Java, indonesia. cool place - but literally just a stopover. tomorrow i'll be heading on to singapore for a few days intensive shopping and posting - gotta get the christmas parcel off soon or else it just ain't gonna make it, santa or no santa. from there it'll be a quick hop up into malaysia to see the coast (maybe do a scuba dive too - just did the PADI course off the gili isles), hit Kuala Lumpur to stare at a whole bunch of massive buildings and curse loudly at the fact that even a wide angle lens has no hope of capturing the entire towers with me standing in the shot looking teensy.... terrible shame. hopefully after that day of excitement i'll be able to procure a ticket for the jungle railway and head northwards, stopping in the highlands (gotta love it) to buy some fresh tea from plantations (honest, it is just tea) and do a bit of a trek through the canopy.
Music
Oneself, The Herbalizer, Flaming Lips, Handsome boy modelling school (their remix of Breakdown by Jack Johnson is class), Manitoba, Aphex Twin, Postal Service, Reindeer Section, Beastie Boys, FSOL, Air, Zero 7, Aphrodite, Kooks and, of course, a little bit of Ludwig Van.
Films
i'll have to be brief - the bath's pretty much run. too many to list, but i've just bought spirited away and you should too. i also bought my mum "willow".... remember the one with all the little folk? vastly predates hobbits on the silver screen, and is a childhood memory, although not a patch on labyrinth with david bowie.
Sports
Basketball, Mountain biking, anything snow, but in particular snowboarding, running, canoeing, canyoning (of the hurl yourself down waterfalls variety... i don't do caves), squash, badminton and of course, digging. I'm digging the hell out of my garden.
Scared Of
Big rocks. Little kids with scary eyebrows. People who can turn their head like the crazy in the exorcist. Urban sharks. Oh yes, and Tofu. Mostly Tofu in fact.
Happiest When
Outside doing things.

  • and so begins.... madness

i like the way this is set up - it even says "write to my blog", as if accepting the fact that nobody will read it. hopefully i can swing this as a therapeutic experience, rather than the more overt indications that i am, indeed, a nutcase.

busy day at work today, feeding all of the hungry bikers and giving out just enough banter/vpl to bring in a lump sum to the tips jar - happy days! however, whilst there were those kind enough to give us cash, certain others weren't.... there are many words which could be used to describe these creatures, but, out of an inbuilt fear that someone young might stumble across this text at some point, i'll refrain from using any of the more obvious ones. still, we had a little ned gajjy boy come in, pay for some sweets or poppers - who can tell the difference with kids these days - and leave, only to come back a minute later, claiming he paid with big bucks and we stole his change. we saw I AM A COMPULSIVE LIAR written across his permanently-scowl-ridden little pikey features, but, alas, he was not to be outdone that easily. he went and got his dad... or an adult, at the very least. for all we know he might just have walkied round the car park, looking for the biggest, ugliest and thickest looking thug he could find, then promised him some of the afore-mentioned sweets/poppers as payment for pretending to be an angry dad. anyway, they came, they stared and they conquered. it was the most pointless and inevitable argument - there was no proof either way so they got the money out of sandy in the end. gutted.

then it rained. funny - after days of them saying on the weather that it would rain (and even snow) i'm not actually all that bothered that it finally has - it's almost a relief to know that it's here, but more sun is coming. more sun IS coming, right? anyway, i've had my tea, can't be bothered settling down to a braveheart session, so that means i need to go find something else to do... i guess that involves moving. i'll be back

Word! I just tried to reply and the Lotus Notes server blew up. I've stuck it back together now though with some pieces of string and a few spare tendons I had lying around my thigh, so we'll see if it holds.

Anyway, yes, blame The Chob for my re-emergence into the digital realm. He invited me to join, and as you know I am just his simple pawn-child. Haven't quite worked out how to abuse bebo for sexy-flirty purposes yet, so give me some tips soon old fella....I need the love.

Delighted to hear you've been climbing mountains today. I didn't...but I did get the train over the forth rail bridge today which was cool! I felt like a toy man inside a toy train inside a toy's toy train set. There were no turtles, but a giant killer whale did jump out of the water and wink at me through the train window. It was super.

Anywhat, super-wow to hear from you. Will try to get out and see you and lovely, lovely mary soon.

    'til that moment

    I remain
