- This group is specifically for unsigned bands in the U.K.
I, the moderator, have worked for a small independent record label in the past and now act as a freelance in A&R (scout). I'm currently based in Scotland but am looking at the whole of the U.K for new up and coming talent. All genres of music are welcome. Every band/artist that signs up to this group will be looked at/listened to and then taken from there.

If your band/artist is going to have a website, make sure you have some of your own music to put up on it. I have now checked out everyones site, and only a small percentage of you have anything to listen too.
The second thing is level of recording. Recording your own material is a big deal....so make it a big deal. If it means you have to save up for a year to get a really good recording done.....THEN DO THAT AND SAVE UP! Your recorded music is your C.V for the music industry, you wouldn't give in a job application all tattered and stained would you?
The most important thing and I can't stress enough.....before recording.....is practice. This seems obvious, but the amount of recordings I have come across in my time where people are out of time/sync with each other. You have to especially practise WITHOUT any vocals. This is harder than you think as alot of people take their cues from the vocals being sung. It is important to practice WITHOUT vocals as this is the way all GOOD recording studios will ask you to record, Vocals are normally put in last, so get used to playing together without them!
Cannot state this enough....you guessed it PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE!!!!!!!
It will all pay off in the end.
