CRG test......
Friday afternoon meet up with John from MMR Motorsport to test the new CRG cadet kart...brand new, we had to build it up before i could get out on track.
first few runs were okay..too much front end grip then one of the rear hubs came loose and the rear tyre rubbed against the engine....tyre punctured...wondered why there was no grip at the rear.
new tyres fitted and back out on track....managed to do a 45.9, but low 46's were more normal....John had me change a few things with my driving.
kart felt good and quick.....need to have another days testing in it....will push harder next time.0 Commentaren 31 dagen

Larkhall 20th September 2009 – ‘best of the rest’
Getting difficult to keep up with the ‘fast 4’, Kyle, Rory, Jordan & Steven but we are trying our best, after a difficult couple of race weekends we were hoping that this one could be a descent race for us for a change.
Heat 1 – starting from 7th on the grid, not the best but on the left hand side which is the side to be on, made a good start getting up to 4th place..right hand side of the grid didn’t get away well at all. Had a good race Lewis and Kyle, Kyle managed to get passed near the end of the race, good to be racing with the smiler again.
Heat 2 – we were staring from 3rd behind Lewis who has his first pole position on his first race weekend off his novice plates. Lewis made a good start, but I pass him up the back straight to take the lead on the first lap, Jordan followed me through with Kyle and Rory close behind. Managed to hold off Jordan for another lap, but he got me at the end on the straight, I try to take him down the inside at the first part of the infield but he holds the outside line which forces me to the outside for the second corner letting Kyle through with Rory close behind. Rory got me on the next lap, leaving me to fight out the rest of the race with Steven Prentice, Steven got passed with a couple of laps to go, I tried to pass him on the inside at the end of the straight but there was no room and went over the kerb, next lap I tried to go round the outside but didn’t work, great race with Steven…must be getting better.
Heat 3 – supposed to be starting 3rd on the grid but the removal of Steven Pollock from the championship promotes us to second, front row but the wrong side of the grid, need to make a good start. Staring along side Kyle, with Graham and Steven just behind, needs to be a good one. Drop to 3rd behind Kyle and Steven then Jordan gets me at the end of the straight down to 4th with Rory breathing down my neck. Didn’t hold him off for long…5th place…pattern forming here I think, tried my best to hold on to the back of them for the rest of the race, but they are just too fast….left to race Graham and Lewis.
Final.
3, 5th place finishes gives me 5th on the grid…funny that…lol. Well at least we are on the left hand side. We make a great start, up to 3rd place with Kyle and Steven behind…good, got a chance to race with the fast boys, didn’t last long, lap 2, Kyle decided he wanted a cuddle at the infield and Im off…lol…that’s racing, drop down to 10th place…Oh elephant poop….. Lots of work to do now head down and get on with it, manage to pass No 22 straight away, and chase down Cameron (68 ) and get him at the end of the straight, Nathan is next on the list to chase, getting harder now, catching faster drivers, takes 1 ½ laps to pass Nathan, he made me work for the position, now the job of trying to close the gap on Graham and Lewis who are way in front. I manage to put in some quick laps to close the gap on them with a couple of laps to go, I pass Lewis on the way up the back straight then get Graham down the inside at the first part on the infield…wow…up to 5th, do my best to catch the fab 4, but they are too fast and too far away…..great racing up front with Jordan, Kyle, Steven and Rory, just wish I was there to have been in the mix with them…….maybe next time.
Well done to Jordan for winning the Summerlee Open this year, Kyle 2nd, Steven 3rd Rory 4th, Me 5th, Graham 6th, Lewis 7th, Nathan 8th(novice winner), Cameron 9th, Kyle Irvine 10th, Paul 11th & Bruce 12th.
