À propos de moi
Honest Book Awards.

Some of you might know me - I'm Honest, of Honest Book Reviews.

As a Bebo author myself, I know how much being told you're good at writing can mean. As evidenced by some of the feedback I've received, most people bounce around the room when they come to thank me. So these awards are here to provide a morale boost and a pat on the back to the young, talented authors of Bebo.

Basically, this is an excuse for me to worm out the best stories on Bebo and get them some recognition.

So here we go. Get out there and spread the word!

On this page you can nominate books or short stories for awards or Book of the Month, discuss your book or someone elses', participate in the polls and forums and most of all, enjoy yourself!

Click 'View All' on the blog to see all the blog entries and all the nomination sections.

Regards,
Your Friendly Reviewer

NOTE: CLICK 'VIEW ALL' TO SEE ALL BLOG ENTRIES.

    >>>NEW! Fancy being an IMPRESSIVELY BIG NOMINATOR? See below for details!

Please post any complaints or suggestions in this blog entry, or send a PM to either me or Rabbit.

    Introduction

Hello, my name is Honest and I review Beboers' Books with all the honesty I can muster. I've seen other groups that give awards to excellent books and I decided I wanted to do the same. I know from experience that things like this can provide an excellent confidence booster for authors, and I want to be the one to spread a little happiness and encourage all the growing talent - the young unsung writer's of today.

    What does this group do

In a nutshell, I give awards to books I think have earned them. These are Honest Book Awards.

These books will be the best of the best - the top quality writing. I will contact the author notifying them of their awards and place the details in the blog. You can then discuss my decisions in the forum if so you wish.

What do you have to do?

Nominate, nominate, nominate! There are also Honest Book Awards: Members' Choice Awards' available too. These are awards where group members have nominated the book to me. See below to find out about being an IMPRESSIVELY BIG NOMINATOR.

Also, participate in forums, read all the other work listed and generally support the group!

Explain this Book of the Month thing?

Similar things operate on other groups. Basically, I'll take 3 or more books from all and any categories and put them up in a poll. The poll will go up on the first day of the month and come down with the results on the last. Books are nominated by you.

Books must have already won an Honest Book Award to be eligible for BotM. After that, you can nominate any book in the awards archive, providing it has not won a BotM in the past and the page is still current ( i.e. - not deleted and the author is still active on Bebo ).

What other services does this group offer?

The Honest Book Review service, of course! Just leave a comment on my personal profile asking for a review. I will review when I have time and add that to the Review Ranking Blog.

My reviews are honest and impartial, and I always do my best to offer helpful, constructive criticism to help you improve your work.

    What are the rules?

    For award nominations...

Leave a comment in the nominations blog, detailing:

    Book name:
    Author:
    URL:
Reason for nomination ( as few words as possible ):

    For BotM nominations...

As above but leave it in the BotM blog. WARNING: You May Have to Click 'VIEW ALL' to See All These Blog Entries.

    For an Honest Review...

Leave a comment on my personal profile with your URL.

Who is your underling - this, Rabbit?

Rabbit ( aka Claire Hack ) offered to become a mod and help me by keeping the page updated and distributing awards. Claire also designs the graphics for me, including the award certificates. Only I make the choice to give awards, but Claire can deliver the messages in my stead. She can also distribute Members' Choice Awards without my supervision. On this note, I will not give Honest Awards to any of Claire's own books due to conflicting interests and bias. However, her books are eligible for Members' Choice Awards when nominated by a member.

    We Like Short Shorts!

Yes you heard right. Introducing the brand spanking new Super Short award. This is a mini-award created especially for exceptional short stories that couldn't really be called a book in their own right. Short Awards will have their own certificate and a special place in the blog. Remember you can also nominate short stories, but not for BotM.

Well, I was going to nominate Indigo City, but I think it's been already nommed. I've been (re) reading it on Tome City, and it's jolly good! I'll have to go away and look for another now...

  • NaNoWriMo

    November.
    NaNoWriMo.
    National Novel Writing Month.
When it says 'National', it really means 'international', but InNoWriMo doesn't sound as cool.
What do you do for NaNoWriMo?
In the month of November, you have to write an entire 50,000 word novel from scratch. You don't have to finish the novel, but when you reach the 50K mark, you've 'won'.
Its about writing for a deadline, about plunging in headfirst and finding your way to the finish line.
You have to reach 50K without caring too much WHAT you're writing, but focusing on HOW MUCH.
    Does 50,000 words sound daunting?
Does it still sound daunting when you consider that it could be as little as 1700 word (ish) per day?
Sound like the type of boat you could float?

    Check it out.
I, Rabbit, will be giving it a bash for the first time this year. Come join me.

  • Announcing something new

Honest Book Reviews par Honest Book Reviews
I'm really hungering for some new nominations, people.

So if you can be the one to nominate lots and lots of juicy new books for awards, YOU'LL be rewarded with a special honorary title of 'IMPRESSIVELY BIG NOMINATOR'.

But what's the point? Why would I want to be an 'IMPRESSIVELY BIG NOMINATOR'?
Umm... because you love this group and everything it does and you want to help us bring new awards to the authors? Because you are sick of checking this page hoping for new book awards and recommendations and finding there aren't any?
    Is that not enough?
    No?
Then how about it means you get a special award in the albums? Because we want to reward the members who help make this group what it is.
Or you could just do it out of the goodness of your pretty little heart?

    Comment, anyone?
