Keith v Buckie, Aberdeenshire cup final.

Rain lashed the high hills of Christie parks west wing as the jags fans poured in and the few keiths dribbled.

The match started off brighter than the weather, with quick, slick passing from both sides.

Baith sides were threatening, but it was the mighty jags that edged themselves when Mackinnon, who was now operating as a central defender again, headed in from a decent corner.

The end to end stuff continued upto half time, with keith holding more of the attacking spells, much to the satisfaction of all 3 of their neep loving crowd.

The most likely cause for trouble from this point seemed to be arising from a Mr Craib in the crowd who openly taunted senior tattie hearding members of the crowd.

The second half was much better for the jags, tony “ronaldo” low was pushed into a more attacking wing position and throughout the whole second half dazzled and taunted the keith defence with some fantastic pace and dribbling.

The second half was a much more even affair, and despite when the referee seemed to be offering keith the chances to score, buckies defence was resolute, and when keith did get a clear chance, then squandered it. Mainly cos they were pish, and tinks.

Both keepers had work to do, and both teams had chances that should have been buried, but time was nearly up, and despite a heap of late corners from keith, the super mighty jags held on to win.

Cue the usual pitch invasion and trophy presentation carry on. Most notable was the strange lack of shouts like “shearer, ye dinna ken fit yer deeing” from the faces present who jumped to that line all too quickly last season!

Magic stuff, great result, Scotland top and jags cup winners! Only a couple weeks into the season too!

The sun shone down on the glorious Colosseum of magical dreams aka Victoria park as the big crowed streamed in.

The professional looking Dons (only in comparison to the jags) warm up was being blighted by a well trained Collie as a bemused Calderwood looked on, but perhaps not bemused by the fact a dog was interfering but that it looked sharper than most of his players. He may also have been annoyed by the net in front of the pie shop that prevented easy access.

The dons made 10 changes to their cove match, but also included a trialist going by the name of Arafat on the teamsheet amongst various other signings. (nae yassa) but overall, this was a first team and the dons were here on business.

Buckie fielded a few of their new signings, and Ive still nae idea which guy was which, I should have this situation resolved sometime near the end of the season. Until such a time, any goals or mistakes will be attributed to player I know the names and faces of.

The game started off reasonably brightly on a lush park, obviously with the dons being a Euro competing top SPL side, they commanded the better of the possession. However they played as rank as ever and straight off resorted to a surprising amount of lang bas and hoofs up the park. Their target was the rather tanned looking Brewster as the auld cunt is deft at backing in and sticking elbows in defenders faces.

The dons created very little, and the mighty jags made the rather disjointed looking reds work for over half an hour. although the dons being quicker and stronger defeated the marra trademark hold up all to frequently.

However, the dons with some fair amounts of cheating got their breakthrough in the 35th min (or around that time somewhere) when after disposing of shewan a cross fae the left got knocked back along the six yarder before Brewster poked it hame. Much tae the delight of the numerous dons fans, who seemed to outnumber the jags fans. Just shows how many glory hunters there are in Buckie. mair surprisingly wis how strange it was to associate sun drenched, bright colour wearing happy people with Aberdeen

The jags didna collapse, and continued to hold their own pretty well until the half time whistle blew. which calderwood and shearer was keen on having spotted the ice cream van doon behind the goals.

Buckie emerged with changes afoot, and the dons with more intent and the reds (or should I say yella and blacks) were given another goal through some slack marking in the 55th min. yet another cross, but fae the right this time was met by an unmarked Brewster who pit it low under the sub keeper Strong.

The dons who should have went on to destroy, given they are a professional team with much better fitness on a hot day, showed how inept they are. Despite poor jags defending the visiting cheats were pretty woeful in the final third.

The outstanding mike macdonald, and clear man of the match made way for super legend micky mcpherson (whos probably still younger than Brewster). This was one of approximately 80 subs made by buckie, one of which was another sub keeper in the name of Rae, who was large enough that it would take some considerable stamina and time to round.

The glut of changes let Aberscum find a third goal a few mins from time. Maguire had found his way into danger before passing along to the unimpressive Mackie who managed to find the part of the goal Raes bulk wasn’t obstructing.

In all a decent performance from the jags, they did well considering its their first match with the new lads. See how we get on against Ross county later this week! Still finish third in the league probably!

As for the dons, they need to get a hold of themselves! You could not compare this lot to the team calderwood harps on about in the P&J every damn day.
