Young Scot Winner!!
Five lucky South Ayrshire Council Young Scot card holders have each won a pair of tickets for the Odeon cinema after entering the July competition on the Young Scot website.
South Ayrshire Council has issued thousands of cards, free of charge, to young people up to 25 years of age, to encourage young people to make full use of the services provided by it throughout South Ayrshire. The card can be used to obtain discounts at many national outlets and local businesses, for cashless catering at school, free library membership plus discount at all leisure facilities including swimming pools and activity centres (conditions apply).
The issue of South Ayrshire Young Scot cards include 18 to 25 year olds in South Ayrshire. These young people will have access to the services previously mentioned with the exception of the school based services. The 16 to 18 years olds have access to the New National Entitlement Card (NEC) this allows one third off their railway and bus fares throughout Scotland.
After meeting the lucky winners Councillor John Hampton said: "There has been concern voiced at local and national level about the health of young people, and I am positive that the card will encourage and enable more people in the 16 to 25 age group to exercise more.
"The South Ayrshire Young Scot card has many uses, including being a card that young people can use to provide proof of their age. The Young Scot website is very popular with young people, it contains a lot of important information that is delivered in a way those appeals to them.
"I would encourage more young people to visit the Young Scot website, you never know if you enter one of the competitions you may be a winner too. I would like to thank the Odeon cinema for kindly donating the five pairs of tickets, I am sure that the winners will enjoy their visit to the cinema."

INVESTING IN YOUNG PEOPLE!!!!
AYR Town Hall was packed with youngsters at the recent launch of South Ayrshire Council’s Youth Strategy – Investing in Young People.
The strategy is aimed at young people from 11 to 19 years old with a particular emphasis on the problems they may experience during adolescence, leaving school, going to work, training, and further education.
It will form an integral part of what services South Ayrshire will provide for youngsters in the future across a wide range of areas such as children’s services, school education, post school education, and training.
The launch celebrated the talents and skills of youngsters with performances and displays of their artwork.
MC for the event was Erin Norris, chair of South Ayrshire’s Youth Forum.
Pictured above at the launch is, centre, Provost Winnie Sloan, with Erin Norris, fourth left, and representatives of the various bodies who took part in the event.

hi verty orange
Hey there Brian - just a wee thank you for being involved in the film, we're in production now and it should be finished by the end of next week if all goes well!
We've got a charity event this weekend, which is imaginitively titled "The Two-Penny Mile" - basically, we're laying out 2p pieces along the Lang Scots Mile. We need about 100 volunteers, and we have about 18, so we need all the help we can get, both with funding and volunteers! If you want to donate any money for the event, then please just give what you can. If you're free on Saturday between 2pm and 4pm, then please come along, and bring all the reinforcements you can!
Thanks,
The Ark
