We're engaged!!!
Hi friends and family!
Exciting news!!! Sam and I got engaged last night!!! We are both so happy.
My Monday morning began like any other, but I was excited as we were having a team lunch at work. Little did I know the real reason behind this "team lunch"! At 12:30 my workmates and I got together and walked down to Wagamama restaurant in High Street, needless to say I was very surprised to see my darling Sam waiting outside the restaurant with two backpacks packed. I have no idea what is going on! Jenny says to me "Well Rach, take the rest of the day off, seeya later!'" and with that, Jenny, Jess and Laura take off! I sense something is definitely up and am so nervously excited I can hardly eat my yummy lunch! Sam is secretive as usual and never tells me what is going on so he keeps me guessing!
After our meal we get up and walk towards downtown where we head to the ferry terminals and he gives me my backpack and tells me to go change! I discover board shorts, togs, teeshirt and jandels... hmmmm.... We then board a ferry to Waiheke! Yay! I still had no idea what we were doing though. Sam takes me down to a kayak hire place down in the bay on Waiheke where we don a two-man kayak and head out for a few hours on a very beautiful relaxing and fun little adventure! We met a couple coming back from their kayak who took, a few pics for us which was cool. We pulled up in a little bay for afternoon tea and drink grapejuice and eat strawberries and chocolate in a cute little cave (I got chocolate sauce all over myself it was hilarious!) and then we headed back in to take a ferry back to the city. While we were waiting for our ferry to come in we saw two beautiful stingrays gliding along and an electric pink jellyfish!! Awesome!!!
When we got back to Auckland and Sam's car, we dropped off our wet gears and picked up some nice clothes and stuff to get ready for dinner and headed to my work to have a quick shower and doll up! He was so thoughtful he knew to bring my favourite new dress and perfume I was very impressed!! We then walked to a little restaurant called Tony's which is in Lorne Street in the city. It was absolutely perfect! They played Frank Sinatra and had vintage pictures on the wall and served amaaazing food. When we arrived there was a table all set up for us with rose petals on it and my favourite flowers in a vase - scented white lilies!! We had crumbed Camembert and amazing steaks for dinner, although I was surprised that Sam struggled to finish his, very unusual which made me question whether he was nervous about something... At some point after dinner he stood up and pulled me to my feet and said "it's time!" and lead me towards a piano in the corner of the room which I hadn't noticed! My heart was going a million miles an hour!!!! He got everyone in the restaurant's attention and announced he would be playing me a song!! I was stunned speechless!! He played and sung me the most beautiful song he had written himself in which he sung about the things he loves about me and how with God as number one in my life, he wanted to be my number two!!! I was so blown away I just stood there almost in tears and shaking! After he had finished he came out from behind the piano, got down on one knee and proposed with a beautiful diamond ring! Of course I said yes straight away and we hugged and kissed and everyone applauded in the restaurant!!! The waitress brought us out some sparkling grape juice to toast and people kept coming and congratulating us, we even had one lady come and give us her card (she's a wedding photographer!!) and we just sat there grinning excitedly (me squealing a bit and saying ohmigosh ohmigosh!!!) and talking about exciting things to come and the beauty of being able to talk freely about a future together now. A few older married couples told us that marriage is awesome and how happy they are and we will be which was really special. After all this we left the restaurant and Sam drove us to Parne

Sorry I'm just figuring when to have it, as there are sooo many things happening at the mo, including your b'day. (which I can't wait for).
