- Well, i got married to a squaddie, moved to cyprus (where he's based at the mo), finally got a job at Akrotiri bowling centre as a lane mechanic (they don't need many zoologists in the village) got 2 scally wag dogs called Charm and Mia and thats about as exciting as my life gets....at least its warm out here

- I like lots of different music, coldplay, franz ferdinand, incubus, alanis morissette, goldfrapp, red hot chili peppers, delays, colin macintyre (formerly known as mull historical society), faithless and a bit of cheesy pop if i'm hittin the dance floor! Now into a bit of funky house music thanks to Mohamed for that! (if you want to be rich....u got to be a bitch)
- Films
- love action films with lots of explosions and plenty blood and guts! Plus classic films like Flight of the Navigator, Labyrinth etc coz they are classic! Also quite like my sci-fi/fantasy like Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Stargate and so on and so forth
- Things that annoy me
- people who don't walk up/down escalators! aarrhhh, if u walk up/down, u get there twice as fast people! Religion of any kind, ideas of creationism and intelligent design, get a grip u freaks, its all about science! people who sit beside me on the bus (apart from lynn) when i'm sleeping and wake me up to move my bag, despite there being a million other free seats available, i mean what bastards they are and its always bloody men! Also people who don't appreciate the stickers on my name badge at work, u all know who i mean!

cyprus: week 3
well my turtle count is now up at 117....woo hoo! we had a nest hatch on wednesday night and we got 71 babies out of it, it was so amazing just watching them pushing their way up through the sand and then guiding them into the sea, it would melt your heart so it would! i got to give the brownies "the talk" on thursdays excavation (we got 20 babies out) which was a bit scary not only coz i hate kids but i hate public speaking, but apparently it went pretty well. Was on the beach last night but me and Chippy managed to get the Gay Wagon (shitty car with broken 4 wheel drive) stuck in the sand for a couple of hours before Burty came and pulled us out, a bit embarrassing (especially for him, he's supposed to be trained at this shit!) supposed to be going to a bbq with him today but there has been an oil spill and they've all been called away to do clean up, hopefully its not too serious. we've had loads of excavations this week, monday, tuesday, wednesday and 2 nest on thursday. Still got 2 nests to do on saturday, one of which might be a green nest (the rest are loggerheads) which would be pretty exciting! got a curry night up at Dick's (one of our co-ordinators on base) on saturday night which should be a good laugh and think we're going to Pafos on sunday for the day, so its all good.0 Commentaren 802 dagen

cyprus: week 2
well the excavation on saturday got me one turtle (alive) which was really cool! apart from that there hasn't been a single turtle anywhere...poor show! went out for zara'a birthday on tue to limassol where we went shopping (i got 2 new tops in stradivarius...the best shop ever!) and we went to the haagen dazs cafe for some really yummy ice cream and for dinner at night then back out on thurs night for a bit of a party. Its been pretty quiet all week really, just hanging around. I had a game of badminton today which was fun coz i'm getn a right lazy bitch sitting all day and all night. Back on the beach tonight and tomoz then off sun and mon and there is a bbq planned for sat so its all good!0 Commentaren 809 dagen

Cyprus: week 1
i've now been in cyprus for a week and i've not actually seen any live turtles yet
had an excavation on our first day but no babies and i was on the beach that night. then we went to the wine festival on sunday night and i was back on the beach on monday. took a we visit to aphrodite's rock which was nice (its just a rock) although on the way back to base we had to detour to the beach where a nest had hatched early and with the cage still down the hatchlings were trapped. unfortunately they'd been out in the sun all day and 76 of them were dead, 2 were dug our alive (they got released into the sea before we got there), so not a great end to the day. my nights off were pretty quite, not much going on then i was in the shop on thursday where i had to entertain the 8yr old monster boy from a couple of shops along. back on the beach fri, sat and sun and we have an excavation today (sat) so i'm hopeing i'll finally get to see some babies...fingers crossed!
