Aye, I have a Facebook, but I honestly think it blows compared to Bebo, so I haven't used it since August or something :S

I just got back from seeing Firewind and Stratovarius.... both of them were awesome in their own ways...rather unfortunately Firewind had to cut some songs due to Stratovarius and even they had to cut some songs because Timo Kotipelto is sick.

I hope he's OK for your date.

Gave a celebratory handclasp to Mark Cross, Bob Kastionitas and the new Strato guitarist.

And the venue they were at sucked. It's far too small for a band of their size. I hope your one is better.

Also, Celesty confirmed for BOA! That's the best announcement for me since BG! They're a great wee band, I'm sure you'd love them.

Sorry I haven´t spoke to you in a while, but I´m in Spain at the moment....

I fancy going to the second stage this time...I think Beholder are the band that's gonna entice me there.

I have done, and I mean, I probably sound like some elitist arsehole, but not many impressed me.

I'm very sorry and I don't want to sound like such a tool....but it's true.

I'll class the bands as the following, so you can get an idea of what I'm gonna do. Some changes will probably be made:

Must see: Saxon, Sabaton, Blind Guardian, Municipal Waste, Battlelore, Die Apokalyptischen Reiter, Turisas, Amon Amarth

Probably will see: Arch Enemy, Carcass, Girlschool, Satyricon, Candlemass, Kreator, Apocalyptica

Perhaps will see, probably will because I can't be bothered to go to the second stage: GWAR, Equilibrium, Moonspell, Katatonia, The Haunted, Enslaved

Might see, if I develop a mental disability and am unable to make a rational decision: Cradle of Filth

Giving them chance, then going to the second stage anyway: Europe

I will probably miss due to travel: Million Dollar Reload.

Most of the bands classed in my "Must see" category for this year are on Friday, with BG and Battlelore being the only ones who aren't.

BFMV would be a total disaster, as bad as Europe. I'd definitely sell my ticket if that were the case and buy a day ticket for Friday.

Sabaton are a Power Metal band, with no "epic" vocals and no lyrics about dragons or steel! Just WWII. Makes a nice change. It's throw your head back, hold your hands high and rock out kinda Metal, you should like them.

Battlelore are another PM band, and they're mostly centered around Tolkien lyrics, but sound nothing like Blind Guardian. Their use of 3 kinds of vocals is quite innovative and enjoyable. Don't know if you'll like them, but they're a saving grace for the PM fans.

Beholder and Pythia on the unsigned stage/Sophie Lancaster Stage also have PM tendencies, so if it's some Black/Death band that's playing when they're on, I'll be seeing them instead.

But yeah, 3/5 bands is not enough! More OM is needed.

Exactly my point...no one has heard anything except Final Countdown.

This is an embarrassment. The BOA team should be ashamed at this one. I mean, fair enough if they book a Metal headliner I don't like, but a (to be quite frank) joke of a band, that's far too much.

I'm praying that this a poor April Fool's joke.

It's not a funny one either. I don't even think they merit a headline slot. The only reason they're famous is The Final Countdown.


At least we still have Blind Guardian.

I have put in (probably too much) thought about the headliners. It's pretty obvious that the next headliner will be a co-headliner.

So far we have:

Extreme Metal - Extreme Metal
Power Metal - Extreme Metal

so the next co-headliner should be

Power Metal-Power Metal

or a Heavy or Trad. band or whatever...two melodic acts anyway.

Heaven and Hell, WASP, Manowar and Gamma Ray are all capable of co-headlining and all are on tour.

That's assuming we get two Heavy/Trad./Power bands....


Gojira...I'd be happy if they were announced. I'm still not a fan, but it's listenable.

Friday is gonna be hellish, I've got an important deadline to meet that day, so a good headliner would really cheer me up

Priest ( ) or Motorhead would be my preferred headliners.

To be honest, I'm struggling to think of bands that could headline, maybe Children of Bodom, Anthrax, Megadeth, In Flames, BLS and that's all I can think of.

I doubt Blind Guardian could headline, but if the BOA team think they could, I'm not gonna complain

Reviewing the situation: We have Saxon and Girlschool. There's only one band left to complete the set: Motorhead.

I still say there's not enough Power Metal, but there's still a lot of time to turn it around. Blind Guardian, Gamma Ray and Sonata Arctica would be godly. Grave Digger would be beyond amazing, as would StormWarrior, Edguy and maybe some Spanish PM like Mago de Oz, Tierra Santa, Avalanch or Warcry.
