some numbers to wreck your head
Overview of Motorcyclist Road Collision Casualties .
This issue contains motorcyclist collision statistics for 2006 calendar year and in the last decade. It examines trends in collisions, fatalities and injuries over time in the last decade as well as the most recent trends. It also details when and where motorcyclist road collisions occurred.
In 2006, 29 motorcyclists were killed. This accounted for 8 per cent of all fatalities. An additional 505 motorcyclists were injured. The number of motorcyclist fatalities has reduced by 48 per cent between 2006 and 2005. In 2006, motorcyclists were 13 times more likely than car users to be killed and 3 times more likely than pedal cyclists to be killed per vehicle kilometres travelled.
Long-term trends in Motorcyclist Road Deaths
323 Motorcyclists were killed in the period 2000-2006, 893 were seriously injured in the same period. 70% of motorcyclists killed in the period 2000-2006 were male aged 17-34 (i.e. 36.4% were male aged 17-24 and 34% were male aged 25-34). 63% of motorcyclists seriously injured were male aged 17-34. 54% of these fatalities happened on Sunday and Saturday
So lets break this down a little
Between 2000 and 2006 the worst year was 2005 where 56 motorcyclist were killed.
And of the same year 6 were killed around 8 in the evening .So up until 00-06 31 people were killed around this time of the evening. And May seems to be the worst month. Where 10 were killed in that month in 2005.where 18 of that year were aged between 25 and 34
{Now. more dome and gloom. .but hay you don’t have to read it//}
ALL SERIOUS INJURIES BETWEEN 1996-2006
Now for serious injuries .The worst year over this 10 year period seems to be 1997.
235 people were injured that year, and of the same year .30 were injured in april.
95 of them were aged between 17 and 24 of the year 1997
So guys a break down.
Saturday and Sunday seems to be the worst. between 1600hours &2100hours of any day of the week is also a bad time. April and May is when we are getting on our bikes after the winter is not good news either… so when you read this it might just make you a bit more aware..
So drive safe and take care0 Kommentare 319 Tage

Tributes for Robert Dunlop- RIP
Tributes were paid across sport and politics last night after former Isle of Man TT winner Robert Dunlop died following a horrific crash during a practice race in Northern Ireland.
The Antrim rider, brother of the legendary Joey Dunlop, who was killed in a similar accident in Estonia in 2000, was injured in the North West 200 in Portrush.
His bike appeared to seize at the Mathers Cross section of the course and he was rushed to the Causeway Hospital in Coleraine, Derry, where he died from his injuries shortly after 10pm.
First Minister Ian Paisley and Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness paid tribute, saying they were deeply saddened by his death.
'This is a tragedy that will be felt deeply by the people of Northern Ireland,' Mr Paisley said.
'Robert was one of our greatest sportsmen and will be sadly missed. My prayers and thoughts this evening are with his family and loved ones.'
Mr McGuinness said: 'Robert, like his brother Joey before him, was a tremendous ambassador for his sport. I also offer my sincerest sympathies to his family.'
Northern Ireland's Sports Minister Edwin Poots also extended his condolences to friends and family of the racer.
'It is a tragic loss for his family and all those involved in motorsport at home and on the international stage,' the Democratic Unionist minister said.
'Robert was a much-loved, respected and talented member of the motorsport community and will be missed by all.'
Dunlop received chest injuries during the 160mph accident, tumbling over the handlebars.
Another rider, Darren Burns, had a suspected broken leg and concussion in the accident, but is said to be stable in hospital.
He was following Dunlop and was unable to avoid hitting the Ballymoney rider during the 250cc qualifying.
Mervyn Whyte, clerk of the course at the North West 200, said the racing community was stunned.
'Coleraine & District Motor Club members and myself as clerk of course are devastated by the news that Robert Dunlop has died following a fatal incident during the second practice night of this year's North West 200,' he said.
'Our thoughts and prayers are with Robert's family and we extend our deepest sympathies to his wife Louise, children William, Daniel and Michael and wider family circle.
'The MCUI (UC) - Motor Cycling Union of Ireland and PSNI are in the process of fully investigating the incident which happened during the 125, 250, 400 practice session on the first lap.
'The other rider involved in the incident is in a stable condition in hospital.
'Robert was one of Northern Ireland's best known and most experienced riders who will always been remembered for his infectious personality and love for road racing.'
Dunlop sustained serious injuries in a crash at the Isle of Man TT in 1994, but he recovered and returned to the sport in 1996 at the Cookstown 100 and although still not fully fit took ninth place.
In February 2005 he was the first person to be elected to the Irish Racer Magazine Hall of Fame.0 Kommentare 561 Tage

Riverside Crew Mcc7 Wochen herMy name is Patrick Flaherty. I'm 28, engaged with two kids.
6 months ago my daughter Chloe had to undergo a major surgery in Dublin. Unfortunately Chloe suffered extensive and permanent brain damaged and will need 24 hr nursing care and specialised equipment before we can bring her home from the hospital.
I drive a transit van which will be unsuitable for her transport and so will have to buy a disabled persons vehicle. To assist with the costs I have organised the "To Chloe with Love Run" where I will be raffling of my bike and car (see photos) Tickets 50 euros each.
The run will commence from Dunnest Stores Briarhill at 11am on Sat Nov 7th and continue to Connemara (info on route http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UT... and back to the Menlo Park Hotel for the raffle.
