- I guess all of my life has been dominated in one way or another by adrenaline. Agressive skill sports like Judo and Rugby, rock climbing, co-steering or even jumping out of perfectly servicable aircraft. When I was younger it wasn't unusual to find me screaming down hillsides on bits of plastic trying to avoid sudden stops. Like trees.
I remember once we found a great place up in the Cheviot hills - a dirty great waterfall with a deep plunge pool at its base. We rode tyres and bare arses down the fall into the water, alternatively getting battered and frozen then climbing the rocks to get out and running back to do it again. How the hell we didn't get seriously injured I don't know but we did call a halt to proceedings when an Adders nest was disturbed - and the snakes swam across the flow of water all around us. Ha! There's limits afterall!
A couple of decades later and I'm still at it - the Martial Art that is...I've given up waterfalls!
- Music
- Mostly into Rock - be it Metal, Soft, Heavy...thundering drum beats, screaming guitars - you get the gist. That said I'm happy with all sorts really, from classical through Ska, House & HipHop.
But mostly Rock! - Films
- Bourne trilogy and Hot Fuzz rate it for me
- Sports
- Martial Arts. This is what I do best and I love it. Japanese Jujitsu, Judo (both traditional and sport...yep there's a difference) and Kobudo. I also train with a Progressive Fighting Systems group called Thro' The Fire (PFS is headed by Paul Vunak, this is the stuff taught to Navy seal teams amongst others. Suffice to say - It works.) We use Kali Stick & knife fighting combined with Jeet Kune Do and other concepts to maintain a strong, effective and real Martial system.
- Scared Of
- falling off my bike...it costs waaaay to much to replace all the plastic! Hmmm, probably wont do the engine much good either...)
- Happiest When
- Training and teaching. Absolutely love it :-) Even happier out on the bike on a good sunny day :-D ...now that's a feeling hard to beat.
