- The Young Carers project is supported and funded by the national lottery fund. It is for young people from the age of 6-18. The project was created because the young people are caring for a sister, brother or parent with an illness or disability. It is helping the young people deal with their families illness or disability through days out residentails and one on ones. The young people all meet together and get support from one another. The leaders are Louise and Lesley. There are various volunteers such as Sean and Donna. The help the carers receive from the leaders, volunteers and eachother helps them profusely they can speak too eachother and understand eachother as they areall going through the same thing.

BBC THREE DOCUMENTARY LOOKING FOR YOUNG PEOPLE CARING FOR SOMEONE WITH A MENTAL HEALTH PROBLEM. Do you have a parent with a mental illness? Are you a parent who has a mental health condition? Are you happy to talk about your experiences? N-Dubz singer Tulisa is making a BBC Three documentary exploring her own experiences of growing up with a parent who has a mental illness. We are looking for young people and their parents who have a similar experience to share their story with Tulisa. Do you care for a parent with a mental illness? Do you sometimes find it difficult to cope? Are you a parent who worries about how your situation impacts on your children? Do you think that we only hear the negative aspects of mental health problems? If this sounds like you, someone you know, and you are aged between 14-20 then please contact Therese on tbyrne@mentorn.tv or 0207 258 6781 All communications will be treated in confidence and your details held securely
