Past Month Review (October):
October was a monumental month for North Meath Macra with us second in two All Ireland Finals, firstly the Impromptu Public Speaking and secondly for the A.I.B. Best New Member Awards. We produced a reasonable team for the 7-A-Side Football for the county round, however our Quiz ability was poor with us only have 2 members attending the Longwood Table Quiz.

The Macra National Conference was held down in Bantry in Cork for which Anna Heavy and my self lead the North Meath delegation while been informative it was also a great weekend of fun and entertainment running from Friday to Monday.

On the Agricultural side of things, whilst there was no farm walks this month, there was a couple of meetings resulting in Aran Byrne and Leo Nulty going out canvassing in the IFA upcoming elections and my self been elected onto the ICSA exec for county Meath.

Though the main highlight for most of our members will have been the Pre-Halloween, Night of Madness-Party. We had crowd of 120 attending in fancy dress, it was 30 down on forecast, however we continue to attract the biggest crowd to our parts and I presume if we publicize our next event right we could be hoping for considerable improvement.

In summery it was a very active month, which I deem successful due to the hard work from some of our key members.

Forecast for November:

It’s another busy month ahead, with a lot of key event happening. Having done so well in Impromptu public speaking I’m very disappointed to say I’m struggling to make a Public Speaking Team for Moynalty and so we’ll hold our meeting on the Friday. If we make a team at a late stage, presumably Leo and Aran will run the meeting as I’ll be away.
Queen of the Land in Tullamore will be a great weekend but with out sufficient interest I’m leaving it up to individuals to book there own accommodation if interested, I might however drive down one of the days to have a look, with lifts going if interested.
Not much I need to say about U-Bet in Ardcath, we had a busload at it last year, and we had some great fun, I presume the same again for this year.
Followed the week after by the Netendo Wee Olympics Night which we also had a bus load at it last year great night, Athboy had a bus load at our pre-Halloween party, and so I’d like to think that we return the favor.
After that the big one is going to be the 5 a side soccer, which we’re hosting, so with the right ref picked I reckon we stand a good chance. So lets hope for a few good teams.

Then back for another meeting on the 4th of December, where if you want to go to the Dinner Dance make sure to have paid my now, and remember we only for 33 tickets for the last dance when we wanted 38. So first come first served.

And remember my main goal always – That North Meath Macra will aim to provide high quality entertainment, and leisure/spo

July 10 Friday – Poker Night Batterstown

July 12 Sunday – Picnic in the Park Athboy, Mini Concert probably 3 or 4 bands playing. We can bring over our stand and make a few pound for the club also.

July 17 Friday – North Meath Macra Meeting in the Sally 8.30
July 17 Friday – John & Barbra’s Wedding

July 19 Sunday- Cycle from Kilcloon to Batterstown.

July 26 Sunday – Climb in Wicklow, Mid-day.

Augest 29th & 30th County Officer Training (we don’t go to this one)

September 11th ,12th & 13th Friday – Sunday, Club Officer Training, (in the Green Isle Hotel)

SATURDAY
This Saturday the macra tug of war all Ireland in on in Monaghan which we hosted last year. Weigh in at 11, starts at 1.p.m. goes on I’ll guess till about 3. then there’s food provided which could take us to 4, I guess.

Later that evening Hillgrove Hotel Monaghan. There’s a big night which I recon a lot of Meath will be at, and from last years reports it seem very good.

Only problem been it starts about 8. So there’s a 4 hour gap.

Now we could make a full day tour of Monaghan, get a bus and of we go, or we could go come home at 3 and go back at 8.

We got stock judging for anyone interested. And the Nobber fair the Posters from the vintage show and we’ll be on our way. Was great day last year,
