- This group is for everyone who is affected by the ridiculous price of fuel at the moment.
With some garages topping £1.30 a litre for diesel, and the Chancellor planning to add ANOTHER 2p fuel tax very soon; the cost of driving is just becoming impossible to manage. Oil companies make millions of pounds of profit EVERY MINUTE, yet still see fit to charge consumers the outrageous prices they do.
This group will work like an online petition but also will be a place for people to discuss ideas and talk about what should be done. The site wil also keep you up-to-date with the latest news on the subject.
High fuel prices affect EVERYTHING we buy; from groceries to alcohol, to buses and heating. The high transport costs that companies pay has to be transferred to the consumer i.e. YOU!

Bikers stage fuel prices protest
Hundreds of motorcyclists have staged a protest against the rising cost of fuel with a mass ride into Edinburgh.
About 300 bikers from Aberdeen, Dundee and Edinburgh travelled in convoy from Kinross to the capital.
Led by a police escort, they crossed the Forth Road Bridge before congregating in the city centre.
The web forum Fife Bikers, which organised the mass ride, described it as a "non-political" protest against rising fuel taxes.
The forum has about 1,100 members.
'Fed up'
Spokesman Stephen Forsyth said: "We are just ordinary people who are fed up with the increasing price of fuel.
"We have had a lot of support today and have hopefully got our message across."
The procession left from Kinross Services on the M90 at midday.
A spokesman for Lothian and Borders Police said the event had passed without incident.

problem is here noone goes far enough to make their point and noone sticks together.. am from a family of truckers.. had class one since 21.. million km in one truck throughout europe.. even been on uk demos in a belgian truck! worked for uk, belgian and dutch companies and i know for a fact who gets the best deals.. and its not you, my dad, uncle or friends.. but until you all REALLY stand up and be counted, be a force to be reckoned with, then the biggest remaining industry (uk transport) will die and everyone will pay throught the nose for fuel. you will have even more foreign drivers here causing more accidents and their statistics are lumped in with uk trucks (who are among the safest in europe). there will be nothing for young truckers here either unless u count loading all the foreign trucks on a FORK truck cos weve all gone!! with my own unit - 3 FACTORIES CLOSED! RATES CUT BY OVER 33% due to UNREGULATED foreign competition.. broke my heart to sell my unit.. id rather have power slid it up gordon browns useless rectal passage (blair too) !!

A big problem for truckers is their operators licence. when we demo in trucks then we risk everything because we cannot break the law in a licenced vehicle. Firms have had reprisals from the Gov in the past in this way.. but if there is a demo.. we could join you in cars!
85% of fuel price IS TAX. No matter what they tell you IT IS TAX. When we demoed at the oil refineries they told you people could die in hospital because no fuel for generators which was complete bull.. they lie thro their rings just the same as with the expenses now.. we need polititicians like richard branson, alan sugar, alex ferguson etc etc, who need to be forced to do it like jury duty.. without pay an no involvement in deals of benefit.. dont u think they would run the country properly..as a business? NOT A PIGGY BANK!!

Well the Truckers have done it, the Bikers have done it..... its about damm time we done it!! Petrol prices are becoming ridiculous and unless shows of strength like the bikers and truckers then we wont get anywhere. The government has the most control over petrol and diesel prices because about 60% of what we pay is TAX. Protesting like what the Ts and Bs done is the only way to tell the ars*holes that lead us that we are not accepting their sh!te anymore, we are not accepting paying huge prices for petrol while they are chauffeur driven around for free on the TAX payers tab, we are not accepting that almost every other nation in the world with Oil reserves get subsidised petrol and diesel!! We are not accepting that while these other nations are benefiting from the high prices we are suffering and our economy is going tits up!!1 odpowiedź 72 tygodnie
Getting all the Scottish forums involved and we could do the biggest protest out the lot!
We could go along the same lines as the bikers but go one better, if we leave from somewhere close and then all converge on edinburgh from all sides then the impact will be huge. If we get the numbers then edinbugh could be choked in the weight of traffic just like we are choked by the cost of fuel.

Petrol prices now adays are a right f**king joke - i agree with John H, i passed my test 4 years ago and i remember the petrol was 78p a litre.
petrol now adays in hamilton scotland is from £1.049 to £1.089 and desil is from £1.029 to £1.079

The actual price the fuel companies charge is very little, its the tax that the government have on it is insane!
Tax/VAT on everything else we buy is currently 15%, but with fuel its a different story, which is like 50%!
And what do they have to show for it???
