- Slogan
- author of Girl, Missing
- Tout sur moi
- I've always loved writing. Before I wrote books for teens, I was a journalist.
Since my first book Girl, Missing was published I've written the Luke and Eve trilogy in which Luke learns how to get a girl in six not parituclarly easy steps! So far, two of the three books have been published: Six Steps to a Girl and Three's A Crowd. Look out for The One and Only, out early 2009.
Blood Ties came out last year. It's a thriller like Girl, Missing - and has already been nominated for a bunch of awards!
My favourite thing about being an author is writing. Seriously! I’m doing what I love to do – and then getting paid for it!! It’s also lovely when people tell me they’ve enjoyed my books.
Don't forget to check out my website www.sophiemckenziebooks.com - Music
- Bob Dylan, always, but I listen to all sorts of music, especially when I write.
- Films
- Gladiator, The Bourne Ultimatum, The Matrix, Holiday, Brief Encounter
- Sports
- Football and boxing.
- Scared Of
- rats...
- Happiest When
- I write all day, then spend time with my son or go out with friends in the evening – but, if I’m on my own (which I also love), then I relax by listening to music.
- Author
- far too many to list - I love loads of contemporary teen authors, but my absolute all-time favourite writer is Jane Austen

Medusa update
Am working on so many Medusa books at once my head is spinning! The Hostage comes out in January - and The Rescue in July. They'll be narrated by Ketty and Ed, respectively. In between there'll be another Medusa story for World Book Day in March. It's called The Thief and will be told by all four Medusa teens in turn. It's going to be a 'flip' book - shared with awesome author Chris Higgins, who I met for the first time the other day!0 commentaires 10 jours

festival talk
Did a talk at the Edinburgh Book Festival about the main ingredients of successful thrillers. The secret - as I made the audience demonstrate - is in getting people on the edge of their seats!2 commentaires 113 jours

Sophie McKenzieIl y a 30 semainesSo excited that Blood Ties just won the Leeds Book Award! The ceremony was really good fun and I saw lots of great writers there like Kevin Brooks and Marcus Sedgwick. I started so many books before I got one published and have had about seven or eight come out since the - and of all of them, Blood Ties is my favourite so its really brilliant that its won a prize!! And soon I'm going to be writing a sequel which means getting back inside Rachel and Theo's heads and finding out more about their story... I can't wait !!!
