  • Vs Dartford

Maidstone's final game of the season and we knew it was going to be one of the hardest, if not the hardest game of the season. Dartford needed to win to take 2nd place from us, so we knew they was going come out and atttack us. The game started as we expected we Darford coming at us strongly, it took 10-15 minutes for the game to slow and Maidstone begin to pass the ball and use it well. A few sloppy errors put Maidstone under unwated pressure but this was easily dealt with by Lewis Jones and the back 4. Lewis Jones made a fantastic save to deny Dartford the goal they needed, Maidstone began to use the ball more efficiently and Dartford began to slow and become frustrated.

The second half, we knew Dartford were going come out like a steam train to try and get the goal they needed so desperately but Maidstone weren't going give up 2nd place so easily. Maidstone began well having the best of the first 5 minutes and then Dartford began to get more involved, but were really limited to long range efforts which Lewis Jones dealt with easily. Jamie Birchard came close to winning the game for Maidstone, with a fantastic freekick which just hit the bar, a goal that would have been worthy of winning any game. Dartford flew forward in the last 5 minutes, but didnt create any real clear chances, just had long range efforts from outside the box. A fantastic win by Maidstone and a great finish to a season which had its ups and downs, a superb league finish and hopefully a base to build on for the under 18s.

  • vs Kennington

We knew this was a must win game in order for us to finish 2nd place. Maidstone started well but Kennington showed their passing ability and their determination from the start. Maidstone went one up via a Jamie Birchard penalty after George Winter was tripped in the box. The second came form an unlikely source as Ryan Cooper made a great run from right back and finished well one on one. Maidstone again began to sit off and get sloppy but managed to get a third goal via George Winter after a quick throw from Ryan Cooper allowed Sean Johnson to put a decent cross in and George Winter finished well. Maidstone continued to push and were unlucky not to score again but Kennington were always a threat with their pace upfront and they used to this advantage to make it 3-1 at half time.

Maidstone went out in the second half and started slowly and Kennington sensed they cold get something from the game. They did, a superb finish from just outside the box saw the game go 3-2 and forced Maidstone to start playing. Maidstone began to get more involved physically and were unlucky on a few occasions not go 4-2. The goal eventually came after some good work allowed Sean Johnson to find space on the edge of the box and finish well into the corner. James Withers was unlucky not to put Maidstone 5-2 up but a great save from the keeper prevented this. The 5th goal came from Ryan Cooper again, flying up the pitch he found himself with the ball infront of the goal and finished well. As it looked like the game was going perfect, loads of goals, great play and great weather, Jack Simon pops up and scores probably the best goal of the season, a great turn on the edge of the box and a rocket into top corner to seal off a good game and a good 3 points for Maidstone

  • vs Whitstable

We knew this was not going to be the most taxing of our remanding games but never the less had to be won. Maidstone started sharpely and scored an early goal via George Winter, this tally was then doubled by James Withers. Maidstone continued to press and got the third, another by George Winter. Then Maidstone began to sit off and start getting sloppy and all going for goals not teamwork.

After a half time talking to, Maidstone went out and were determined to play football, the 4th goal game via Sean Johnson and then the 5th game from a great header by Jack Simon. Maidstone were flowing freely and playing good football which let to another goal from Sean Johnson and a penalty chance which George Winter failed to finish. Sean Johnson got his third in one half making it 7-0 and George Winter made up for his penalty miss by getting his hat trick with a great chip over the keeper, 8-0. Maidstone continued to play simple, easy football and came away with the expected and deserved 3 points.
