- The Tall Ships are docking in Belfast for the first time since 1991.
The event will take place 13-16 August 2009.
This is one event not to be missed- not only is it the largest the City will have hosted in 18 years but we are sure there will be something for everyone!
Crew and volunteers can expect a traditional, warm and friendly welcome. There will be a dedicated social programme to include sporting activities, sightseeing tours and entertainment as well as opportunities to experience at first hand a taste of what the City has to offer.
Quayside activities will provide the public with fun, food, education and excitement; showcasing music, street theatre and a variety of magical performances to be enjoyed by the young and old alike.
They're will be ships, continental markets, fun fairs, aerial displays, crafts, UK Strongest Man competition and so much more!

Get involved as a volunteer!
We are asking you to give up some of your free time to help us make sure that everyone attending the event receives the warm, friendly welcome that only Northern Ireland can offer.
We want to make this is a fun-filled and memorable event for everyone attending. This will include the ships' crew from around the globe, who will have travelled some 7,000 nautical miles en route to Belfast.
Volunteers are needed for:
-accompanying crews during social activities
-crew liaison
-information provision
-hospitality
If you are unavailable during the four days of the event (13 - 16 August 2009) but could spare a few hours before this, volunteers are also needed to help with pack assembly, training, administration and pack collection.
If you are interested in getting involved, or for further information about volunteering, please email volunteering@belfastcity.gov.uk
Please note, volunteers must be over 16 years of age at the time of the Tall Ships 2009 event. Those under 18 will require permission from a parent or guardian.
