  • George To Star In The West End

Britain's Got Talent winner George Sampson has signed up to make his West End stage debut in a hip-hop musical.

The 15-year-old from Warrington will appear in street dance show Into The Hoods at the Novello Theatre from 4 August for a four-week stint.

"The show is funky and young and I love the music in it. I can't wait to get dancing on that stage," he said.

A reworking of Stephen Sondheim's musical Into The Woods, the show features hits by Gorillaz and Prince.

Sampson has just completed the sell-out Britain's Got Talent tour.

He won £100,000 and the chance to perform at this year's Royal Variety Performance when he won the ITV reality show in May.

The youngster is due to start rehearsals for Into The Hoods straight away.

"This year is getting better and better," he said in a statement.

Into The Hoods was a smash hit at the Edinburgh fringe festival before transferring to the West End for a limited season in March.

Starring Salt-n-Pepa DJ Spinderella and urban poet Mr Gee from Russell Brand's Radio 2 show, the musical has had its run extended until the end of August.
