• Who...?

  A quick who's who of what I am and what I do..
  Apparently I am a Congaleese silverbacked mountain gorilla, which means that I eat bananas with their skins on, throw poo at tourists when they get too close and spend the rest of my time making baby gorillas with my gorilla wife...
  But, unknown to my gorilla friends, I have had a secret double life spending the last three decades secretly writing songs, lyrics, concept albums, strange stories etc etc under a number of assumed names and identities.
  But this is the real , real me. I was born into a family with a royal ancestoral Irish heritage (like most other Irish people with Irish names ) O'Riain means descendant of the little king and is pronounced Oh -ree - ann, it is also the original Irish root of the name 'Ryan' - which though pronounced throughout the world as 'rye-an ' it should actualy be pronounced 'ree-an' (the confusion started after the Normans came to Ireland with their french spellings and pronunciations, once the Norman language progressed into modern english the spelling remained but the phonetics had altered over a few generations). My best friend is another king of royal descent whose famous genetic ancestor was the worlds first ever pop/rock star in about 1000bc - apparently the beatles weren't the first to have screaming girls swooning at their feet!
  Being artisticly minded I've allways been a bit of a daydreamer and allways seemed to have a 500gigabyte mp3 and 4 player for a brain instead of the usual grey matter. Unfortunately, thanks to an english education, I was musicaly illiterate and could'nt tell a crotchet from a crotch...maybe it was because all my music teachers were mostly tone deaf knobs..which meant that translating the sounds in my head into an understandable format for my friends to understand and play was a legnthy drawn out process.
  I spend most of my spare time trying to encourage (and up to a point empower) gifted musicians, songwriters and artists of all kinds to follow their dreams and not give up,I've also recently started to think about taking my own advice and have started writing songs again tapping my self back into the creative stream.
  My other secret is being the brains behind The Ryan- O'Riain22 (a small seedy independant arts site/ magazine) which has a few interesting surprises lurking about 'backstage' that once unveiled will turn the site into an independant arts tv and event site. The site can be found at http://www.theryan-o-riain22.mfbiz.com ...it may be small and tatty but it already features some of the very best independant artists in the world with new pages being imminent.
  If this Bebo site seems a bit bare it's because I've only just started it (and I havn't told anyone about it yet ... ). I'll wop up some songs and lyrics soon.
