- Genuine first generation Bebo-er!
Into another year at Abertay here in Dundee and the story further unwinds. Still trying to make it as a sport coach and still having the guidfun! Life still includes the Abertay GAA but rugby has had to take a back seat until I finally bother myself to se a physio about my shoulder. Also, President of the Abertay Tartan Army for the third year.
Viva, The Borders; viva Falkirk; viva Scotland
Always up for a laugh or a good piss-up - wherever the banter is, I'm no fussed!
Anyroad, I'm a VERY easy-going, yet highly passionate guy. LOVE my sport so throw me a ball of any form and it should keep me occupied for a while!!
I'm a pretty highly sprung laddie, got to be involved in as much stuff as possible. Obviously then, I'm going down the sporting route in Uni and so no-one better be taking my teaching spot at Earlston High!!
- Music
- STATUS QUO (I like 'em, I like 'em I la-la-like 'em). Queen are an absolutely brilliant band. I'm also loving Green Day, particularly their older work (pre-Dookie work) Belle and Sebastian are amazing. Just wow! The Doors are incredible. Also, I have to say it - The View are pretty damn good! Otherwise: Blur, Radiohead, Kraftwerk, Deacon Blue, Paul Weller, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Muse, The Smiths, Eurythmics, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Sleeper, Rory Gallagher, The Jam, Pulp, Oasis, T.Rex, REM, The Proclaimers, Travis, Joy Division, Weezer, No Doubt, Meat Loaf, The Clash, Stereophonics, Supergrass, Pink Floyd, Franz Ferdinand, ELO, Slade, Chas & Dave (think I'm kidding). Still, it's either Quo or no!!
- TV Programme
- Offside - it's petty, ill-informed and slightly abusive... just the way it should be! Red Dwarf - stoke me a clipper, I'll be back for Christmas! Scrubs - "I'm going to break you down into a 1000 pieces so that even my Grandma - who, by the way, can do a 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle of a clear blue sky in under an hour - can't put you back together again"!!! Still Game - "I thought I was gone. I saw your mother; she was all young, just how i remember her when we were married... haw you - you called her a spooky bitch!!!"
- Sports
- I'm sure you could guess that it's football and blue IS the colour ("WE'RE BLUE, WE'RE WHITE..." Falkirk Bairns, silly). I've always got to be involved in stuff as I just love competing and having a good thrash around! I love to play football, cricket is a fantastic sport to play, also try a bit of badminton, some tennis, volleyball (the old S4 Standard Grade class and the S3s should know what a legend I am at it!). Also in the past year, I've picked up rugby. Starting to enjoy it and playing for Earlston and Stobswell in Dundee. However, one of my favourites is cycling. If I'm doing nothing back home, I'm on my bike. Love it. Finally, taken up Gaelic football for the uni to enhance my sporting pallette!
Oh, and a big shout out to the table tennis crew at EHS - you're all legends!!! - Scared Of
- Making an arse of it...
- Happiest When...
- I've got the ball at my feet, I'm gliding on the ice or when I'm birling around in a ceilidh. Simply put, having the guidfun!
- Nicknames
- There have been a few now! Mocko, the one and only - accept no imitations! Mockadeen (classic, Primary School 'til S1); Chilly Willy (Alan Whigham, contracted to Chill by Gav Runciman); Choco (S1/2, or Mocko-Choco); Chino (S4/freshers week, never lasted long. For Moccachino - the drink!); Morocco Mole (Borders College); The Mountain Goat (Borders College, due to my 'mountain goat' jumper); El Mocko (Goose at the White Swan); Caveman - Uni rugby team (whoever came up with that, take a bow); Mocko-Choco-Lata-Yaya - Uni rugby team and Donna Patterson!; Malkie - Morgan Rugby; Malik - those who mis-heard folk calling me Malkie!; Rocko - Corin obviously mis-hearing Mocko at Earlston RFC. May be kept after my stormin debut!! Beardo (Yeah at the Uni Gaelic football team!)

Conclusion of the Mocko World Tour of the UK!
Well, my fab February and monster March was f'king awesome however I was straight into exam season so only writing this up now... however, I shall continue!
8th March 2008 - Murrayfield Edinburgh, Scotland vs. England. Scotland 15 - 9 England - CASHBACK!! Capital banter indeed. Andy and myself headed to the national stadium and had a brilliant day. Managed to somehow avoid the intermittant torrential rain in Edinburgh, got ourselves slightly sozzled and of course, the game was just brilliant to witness!
9th March 2008 - Dawson Park, Dundee; Scottish University Sport Gaelic Football Championships. Not a bad wee afternoon this. Abertay, Glasgow Caley, Stirling and Edinburgh came along to compete for the Scottish 'B' Football Championship. We started off against Stirling and played really well. I pulled a few good saves, we turned over the points to face Edinburgh in the final. However, call-offs and injuries put paid to the whole contest as we created an Aberling/Stabertay mixed team to play Edinburgh. We lost the game something like 1-12 to 1-6. Afterwards, watched the senior final between RGU and Napier which RGU won.
15th March 2008 - St. Patrick's Night and 6 Nations Finale, Dundee. "Paddie's is on the 15th ya spas"! Messy as f'k day. Obviously the whole GAA crew and all their crews were out in the Arctic for this one. Scotland lost to an Italian drop goal and I was ko'd by 5pm, went to bed for 2 hours, woke up with a hangover and went straight back out. Messy, messy times!...
22nd March 2008 - Grantown-on-Spey, Highlands; Strathspey RFC vs. Stobswell RFC. The World Tour's extension into Shinty Country took in an absolute farce of a game against Strathspey. We lost in about 2 inches of snow... joke of a match. My eyes were burning for the sun's glare off the ground. Scored a penalty and a conversion and then a fantastic bus journey followed. Great end to a great month and a half!

The Mocko World Tour of the UK 2008
Should maybe have wrote this up a little earlier, like before the start of the month but anyway...
3rd February 2008 - Edinburgh, Scotland v France. Booked this ticket and headed down with Andy. Absolutely stinking game from a Scots point of view and the stadium was absolutely BALTIC... but a good experience nonetheless. I enjoyed myself watching the French enjoy themselves!!
6th February 2008 - Dundee, Abertay University v Dundee University, Tay Games Intervarsity Challenge. Played in the Gaelic football match against that filthy lot across Perth Road and got a right doing over! What's that they say, it's the taking part that counts? Well anyway, fairly true as they put something like 28 points past us and we scored 5! Also Dundee Uni won the Varsity tournament 7-3... Good laugh, I think...
7th - 11th February 2008 - Treherbert, Wales; Treherbert RFC vs. Stobswell RFC and Wales vs. Scotland. Quite possibly the best weekends banter I've ever had! Went down to the vallies to play Treherbert in an awesome match and enjoyed their brilliant hospitality for the weekend. On the Saturday, head over to Cardiff for the match and the awesome atmosphere at the Millenium Stadium! Awesome 10-hour bus trip back home and straight into Fat Sams... SCRUM DOWN!!!
17th February 2008 - Dawson Park, Dundee; Abertay Uni GAA vs. Stirling Uni GAA. Thought I should mention this, as despite us losing this challenge I made a clean sheet and one wonder save, Yeah however...
And for the rest of the tour...
22nd - 24th February - Birmingham & Midlands, England; Abertay Uni GAA at the BUSA Gaelic Football Championships. Abertay GAA head to the Midlands to compete in the BUSA Gaelic football Championships. Teams in our group include Aston, Sheffield Hallam/Sheffield, Huddersfield (last year's finalists) and Cambridge. We're competing for the Plate but it'll be a massive GAA piss-up, full-stop! N.B. Scotland play Ireland on the same weekend...
8th March 2008 - Edinburgh, Scotland vs. England. Only game of the 6 Nations that counts really doesn't it. Heading to Murrayfield for some capital banter!
9th March 2008 - Dawson Park, Dundee; Scottish University Sport Gaelic Football Championships. Abertay GAA's last real chance for some silverware as we take on Glasgow Caledonian Uni, Stirling Uni and Edinburgh Uni in Dundee for the SUS Gaelic football B Championship. Following that is the 'A' Champinship final between Napier Uni and RGU. Then all off to the Arctic Bar to drink to our efforts!
15th March 2008 - St. Patrick's Night and 6 Nations Finale, Dundee. The Roman Catholic Church moves back St. Patrick's to the same day as the 6 Nations last day, how very nice of them! Well, it'll be probably the biggest night in Dundee so a good way to round off a helluva month!
22nd March 2008 - Grantown-on-Spey, Highlands; Strathspey RFC vs. Stobswell RFC. The World Tour is further extended to Shinty Country where Strathspey will be the hosts to what will be a memorable game to precede a memorable (or not) night!1 comentario 653 días

I Have A Dream
I woke in the night with a fever,
And the sky was the darkest blue (blue sky),
And a still small voice was calling to me, (your country is needing you)
Aye just like that!
And away in the distance,
I can just make out this ball coming in from the left,
And I'm starting to run,
To run like hell,
And the voice is getting louder and louder and louder,
Crying "Hiy, big yin, GAUN YERSEL",
I have a dream (we have a dream),
If dreams come true (if dreams come true),
Then Bonnie Scotland (then Bonnie Scotland),
I'd play for you, (we'll play for you)
I hope and pray, (I hope and pray)
That if I do, (that if we do)
Then Bonnie Scotland,
We'd score the winning goal for you,
Then the next thing I know,
Someone's gone and tripped me,
And I've fallen,
Just inside the box (that's-a penalty),
The ref, he looks to his linesman,
And he's pointing straight at the spot!
And John Robertson, who normally takes them,
Is handing the ball to me! (you don't say)
Then I hear my old lady screaming blue murder...
She's sayin,
"That's no the ball you're kickin', you eejit...
IT'S ME!!!"
I have a dream...0 comentarios 928 días
