- my divorced mother Lucy Emerson and me and Sam move from Phoenix to live with my granpa in Santa Carla, a Californian coastal town plagued with gang activity and unexplained disappearances.
At a boardwalk concert, i was fascinated by a beautiful young woman. After following her along the boardwalk, i saw her getting on a motorcycle with a guy called David, the leader of the local gang. The following night i found the young woman again and found out her name is Star. As we are just about to leave together on my bike, this guy David reappears and provokes me into following him and his cadre. we drove to some sea-cliffs where i was almost baited into going over the edge. so i sluged David, who merely sees potential in me and invites me to the gang's lair, an old dilapidated hotel.At the hotel, the gang leads me through an unsettling initiation involving take-away Chinese food. At the end, i stupidly take a swig from a ablottle of wine which was actually davids blood
